My cat just had all 5 of her kittens :) all are perfectly healthy and nursing just fine but one who I thought was still born but amazingly was alive gasping for air, her momma didn't even touch her and she is very tiny. She has slowly been getting better! We had to rub and clean her off because momma kitty was very tired so she couldn't clean her. Momma came and licked for a minute then went to the others, so we put her in there with the others and momma licked her and cleaned her but she still wasn't moving to much so I helped her find a nipple and she fed for a good 15-20 minutes and fell asleep in my hand, she was a bit colder so I put her in my hand and kept her warm. She's moving like the others and is doing way better! I'll have to post pics tomorrow I'm too busy in here lol, but I'll keep ya posted on how they're doing!

An exemplary, modelling story about rescuing one seemingly stillborn.  It is not that unusual they are "just" cold, and thus, warming and rubbing/massaging them, may give them life back.

With piglets, they somethimes have them into warm water...   :)

Also a little later on you must be prepared do warm them up a little extra. Wrapping in a towel istn

enough, as their own body temp is too low, so they must be activiely warmed.

Observe, too much warm ist almost as dangerous as too cold, so be careful if you use some form of electrical warmed cushion.  Dont set it up on highest grade.

Good luck to mom and children (AND the owner/caretaker).

She's doing soooo much better! We didn't use any electircs because we didn't have any, so I held in her in my hand and gently rubbed her. This morning she's not cold anymore she's about the same as the rest! :) shes moving some and I help her find a nipple and I was watching her and she actually crawled over the other kittens to find a nipple :D I'll post some pics today with their names, momma kitty is such a good mom!

She just fed for a good 15 minutes! I had to hold her up to the nipple because the other little kittens kept pushing her over so I helped her out :) right now they're all cuddling together having a cat nap after feeding, I could use a nap myself!

I have bad news...:( poor little sweetie didn't make it she stopped breathing about 7 minutes ago :'( she was defiantly a trooper and I know she was trying her best to stay alive but she was too weak. I am truley heartbroken, she was the one we were gonna keep but now she's in a better place. The others all fine, she was the runt so I was somewhat expecting this to happen. I didn't want it to but nature will take its corse. Ill keep you updated on the others

Awe i'm so sorry hun, dealing with a loss is so hard- I lost two of my rescue mama's kittens recently. It's hard to deal with, but know she is in a much better place now and not in pain <3

I'm so sorry to hear your little one didn't make it. The good news is it sounds like you did everything right so there is nothing to wonder about or torture yourself playing the "what if" game. Oftentimes, kittens who struggle at birth and then seem okay only to crash a few hours later usually have some sort of internal defect that there is no way to fix. Whatever it was clearly wasn't visible and all your instincts were right that she was going to be okay. You are also right that as much as we hate it sometimes MotherNature has other plans.

Take comfort in knowing she had a tremendous life for the short time she was here.
RIP little one.

Thank you guys :') we named her rue, I was going to tell her name when I posted pics but I didnt get a chance to get to my computer. It really is hard to see a kitten die, I'm glad she's not In pain anymore. She will be missed :( the others are all doing fine, it's actually quite funny how this first time momma kitty wants to play with them so she rolls on her side and purrs and she likes cuddlin them when they sleep :) she's going to have fun when they're old enough to play
