Hi,
I have a cat who's about 12 years old who has FIV, has slight gingivitis and was reading about Transfer Factor for the immune system but not sure which one to use the Classic or the Tri Plus?

He's already on Virbac Interferon orally and DMG.

He's got moderate elevated ALT which he's now on Denosyl.

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You should really ask your vet. They are the ones that have all your cat's medical records and would know which one is the best.

Hi tellytv, and welcome here!

What I am going to suggest is precisely what I would do (if I were in your position) to get an answer about the TF.

IMO, the very best online info and advice on FIV will be found here http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/fiv-healthscience/ Specialized groups like this one have years of experience to offer and are in the know about leading edge treatments and developments. (That group "stems" from this website: http://www.fivtherapy.com/index.htm )

I take the approach that says "Ask your Vet LATER" (!)......general practice Vets simply cannot be expected to have in-depth info on all the species-specific diseases and conditions. Once you have the information and supporting references, THEN it's time for a discussion with the Vet.

One of our members here has lots of in-depth personal experience with FIV. You might want to send her a private message and ask her to see this thread. This is she: http://www.thecatsite.com/u/2451/ldg

Hope that helps!
