What should I feed my cat? She's not too fond of dry food.. She snacks on it here and there but she's always begging me for wet food and I heard that feeding it to them everyday isn't good.. What kind of food would be good for her that she likes?!
Thanks :3

Actually wet food is much better for cats than dry food. Dry food is usually full of ingredients that cats just don't need, so some cats will overeat dry food which can lead to obesity. It can also be very dehydrating. If you've heard that dry food is better for their teeth, that's not true. I

Oops, didn't mean to post yet. If you would like to learn more, please visit catinfo.org. Written by a vet it has a lot of info on the nutritional needs of cats and also has a chart of cat foods to help you pick the best food for your kitty.

Cats are obligate carnivores. Therefore, meat is the best thing for them. Mine get kibble for "grazing". Cats are not wired biologically like dogs are regarding hydration. Dogs will go to the water bowl for a big drink. Some cats do not drink enough because they are wired to get most of their hydration through their food. So in that regard, a diet is the best diet for your cat.

Many, many, many cats do quite well on an all kibble diet and drink from the water bowl. They live long healthy lives. One of the major problems with kibble is that it is calorie and carb heavy. This means if a cat is allowed to free feed kibble they may very well become obese and a lot of issues can result from that including diabetes. Genetics play a huge role as well.

But to answer your question directly... feeding you kitten an all wet diet is great! It is probably the best diet for the furbaby.

My cats get a 90% wet diet to a 10% kibble. I measure the kibble and used a timed feeder to dispense the kibble in between their 2 wet meals a day. My cat's favorite diet is the new line Nutro has just come out with. All of the new wet food is grain free. I tried all of the textures and the cats love 3 out of the 4. I'm not sure all stores have it yet but be on the lookout for it and give it a try

Thanks guys! She loves wet food and I felt bad that I was only giving it to her once a week, I'm gonna look for a good brand for her :)

As vball91 suggested, read http://www.catinfo.org/

Learn to read labels. Always looks for real meat as the first ingredient. Be careful of some of the "grain free" foods, as some are very fattening. Avoid those using potato as their filler. If you can, invest in a water fountain. I have 3 for my 2 kitties.

Good luck and welcome to TCS!
