While-I-am-very-thankful,that-as-pet-parents,we-are-now-being-made-aware-of-the-recalls,concerns,possible-issues,so-we-can-read-the-information,and-make-an-informed-decision,as-to-how-to-proceed.

Pet-food-companies,seem-to-take-the-"nation-and-force-of-pet-parents"-seriously.Some-even-offer-a-grain-free-option/variety.In-Blue-Buffalo's-newest-commercial,they-even-now-refer-to-us-as-pet-parents,and-pet-mommy's.They-now-specifically-mention,by-products,glutens,etc.Maybe-some-who-see-the-commercials,and-not-knowingly-feed-the-major-brands-in-the-grocery-store,might,wonder,hmmm,I-wonder-what-those-are,and-look-them-up,and-look-on-their-bags.

Before-the-Menu-Foods-saga-of-2007,pet-food-companies-deny,deny,deny.They-didn't-care,well,now-they-do.They-found-out,that-pet-parents-are-a-force-to-be-reconned-with.We-ain't-gonna-shut-up,we-ain't,going-away.

Read-in-the-paper-awhile-back,that-pet-parents-spend,like-a-zillion-dollors-on-there-pets,and-that-is-not-the-food.

It-does-bother-me,that-there-seem-to-be-so-many-lately,all-different-companies,and-its-all-for-the-same-reason......salmonella.

Why-is-this?

What-are-they-doing,or,not-doing,that-this-happens?

What-is-your-opinion-about-this?

Meat is prone to salmonella contamination :dk:. Salmonella bacteria are always present in our (and every animal's) intestines, so it gets around. The only reason we know the food has salmonella bacteria is because of testing. Without the testing, we wouldn't know, and the food wouldn't be recalled. We're exposed to salmonella bacteria all the time, in varying concentrations, and most people/animals with healthy immune systems don't get sick unless suddenly hit with a very high concentration of the bacteria.

Yes, this is true.  When I had salmonella and C.diff in Aug. 2011, my immune system was down from having the lodged kidney stone.
