There's a bush walk I usually run it is about 20kms from my house. Over the last 2 weeks I had noticed a very sorry looking cat I kept an eye out for him and gave him buscuits in the morning. Very sweet natured so I inquired with the park care takers and found out he had been dumped and was living under the pathways.. So yesterday I brought him home. I had him in the bathroom yesterday feed him dinner and breakfast let him roam around the house he even went outside this morning to the toilet where then he let me pick him up and put him inside. But my partner left the door open and he jumped the back fence. I went to look for him and saw him but he quickly ran away been looking for him all day to no avail. Just wondering will he come back by himself? Sad :(
We also have another stray she has been with us for 2 years. She has been hissing at him and is very territorial.

Well good for you for having a heart for this abandoned little sweetheart. How tragic it is for abandoned cats, I can only imagine what that must feel like.............

Your kitty has not been there at your house anywhere near acclimation time, so he will not come back on his own, unless by accident, or you go looking for him.

However I can offer some advice.

It sounds crazy/extreme but believe me it really works.

Get yourself several cans of tuna in water, the cheaper type is smellier, and paper plates.

Just before dark head out and start leaving plates of tuna with some water on it for smell too, here and there. Within a few minutes it will have brought out every cat in the neighborhood!! Then snatch up your kitty :)

Hi and welcome to TCS!

I don't know whether he will come back.. it could be unlikely.  It takes quite a bit to orientate a new cat to your home, especially when he's been living wild a while.  And even more so when you have another cat.

If you do manage to bring him back again, there are all sorts of things you can do to make the transition easier.  One is to keep him in.  The other is to keep him separated from your other cat and go through a whole introductory procedure..

read all about it here:  http://www.thecatsite.com/a/introducing-cats-to-cats

It would be wonderful if you could provide a loving home for this guy... not only because he really deserves one and really shouldn't be out on his own.  But also because he's white, and needs to be protected from the sun.

Remember if you do get him back to be sure he's neutered and all up to date with vaccinations..

Let us know how you go
