For the past 3-4 weeks approximately, my cat has been leaving little poop smears all over the place, typically anything he sits on. In addition to that, he smells really strongly like poop, especially after using the litterbox, and the smell lasts awhile.
He must be at least 8 years old by now and this has never happened before so I don't know what the problem could be. I haven't changed anything in his diet so I don't think that's it and he's still using the same litterbox he always has.
One of my friends said that his cat would get diarrhea when he fed her wet food. I suppose that could be it, the poop smears are a little runny looking, but like I said before, he's eating the same food he always has.
Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I can do to resolve this problem?
