Ok. Unfortunally I have to move back home with my parents. I have aquired the cutest kitten in the world while being on my own. My parents have a 4 year old Shih Tzu that is the sweetest thing.

What are some ways to make Emmett ajust to the change in home. Its a bigger place and new people.

Any suggestions?

Always supervise interaction until you are certain beyond ANY doubt that the dog is safe with the kitten, especially if it is a small kitten. Even a gentle dog can unintentionally harm a small kitten if play gets too rough. Keep the dog on a leash during introductions so you can control her.

I have a foster kitten in the house right now, with 2 large dogs. The older dog I trust completely. The younger dog is a little more rambunctious, though very gentle in nature. I watch them closely when they play together, and remind her to be 'gentle' if she gets too excited. 'Settle' is a very valuable command for a dog - there's a link on the above page for teaching it to the dog.

The Behavior forum has lots of ideas for introducing cats to a new home.

I hope everything goes smoothly for you.
