Depends on risk of her getting pregnant again.  I had my mom cat done when her babies were 8 weeks.  I also have had a mom done who was only few days after birth(there was fear of retained kitten)  She actually did fine and nursed her kittens for months!  Both had no chance of getting pregnant(they came to me pregnant/with babies and I had them in room away from to much activity.

Just make sure the vet clears it and knows as they may do the spay a bit different to keep risks low of the kittens tearing anything and to make it easier for her to continue to nurse.

All vets are different, ask your vet.  Remember she might get pregnant again in the first few weeks after birth if you let her out, and she will be desparate to get out if she comes into call (heat).  If she does come into call you can stop it with accupressure mating - look towards the bottom of this article:

I tried with my kitten (she's a pedigree oriental blue brought for breeding) but she was already coming out of call.  I know someone who uses it with great success, but I gather you have to repeat several times over an hour and then again 12 hours later to get them out of call.  And I would still keep the cat in!  I have another couple of friends who tried it, both got the cat to call and rolll but one didn't persist enough (she is busy running a cattery) and I think the other one's cat was close to coming out of call anyway.

There was a video on Youtube but it vanished - the cat behaved exactly as if she had been mated, cried out and rolled like made.  The person doing it also 'tarted her up' round her back legs and under her tummy before applying the pressure, which the male does.  If your cat comes into call it's worth a go in my view - not probably on the first day, but the second.

Some neutered male cats are able to mate and penetrate as well - my two do a lot of it but don't penetrate.  One of them was holding my kitten by the top of her head the first time I saw him trying!

I do second this answer, as far as I know.
