I have found that most canned cat foods are high in their feeding guidelines. It's generally better to go by calories especially since the calories differ from can to can.

Calories per can vary by brand, so it is best to go by calories. I've found that most cat foods, dry or wet, recommend feeding more than what is average. This can be seen as a profit-making move or erring on the conservative side--they don't want to be accused of recommending underfeeding.

The feeding instructions on the can are really high. Mine would look like bowling balls if I fed them 8-9  oz. of Wellness a day
.

I think the important thing is your cat's weight. If she is thin it's fine. If she is a little chubby cut back a bit.

i only give it once a week, so i think im going to continue with it, since she loves it so. im giving her 2 days of indoor wet food. shes lost a few ounces, she went from 12.2 to 11.6 oz.

my vet told me shes a little chunky lol.
