58 minutes left.  No new bids.  I bet whoever was bidding against me is waiting for the final seconds.

I so need to go to the post office and then Safeway, but I have to wait for this auction to end.

I always wait for the final seconds.  I managed to get our cat tree for very very cheap doing that.
I've tried doing that, but I've only bid on a few things so far and my reflexes are not that good on the site yet because I'm still finding my way around there.  So last seconds for me haven't worked that great so far.

But I really, really want this brooch set.  Someone bid twice and I auto bid higher.  Just 16 minutes to go.

I have a couple other items in my watch list that I'll try the last seconds on and see how they go. I'd like the items, but not as much as I want this one.

What is that "one click bid" button next to the # of bidders.  At the last second if I'm out bid, if I click that will it give me yet another bid?

Ummm, so now what do I do?  lol

Never mind. I figured it out.  Apparently eBay sends you an email where you can pay.

  Yay!  It's very pretty!

What we've done is bid low, like $1 over whatever the price is at the moment and then watch for the last few seconds to place our next bid.  It helps it get in faster.  It's been a while since we've done anything on there that wasn't a "buy me now" or whatever its called.

$72 with shipping.  I got the set for $58 USD.  That is a steal for vintage.  I've seen similar here for $100 or more.  And I have several pieces that I've had appraised at around the price of this set.

However, my friend will probably say it's ugly and that she can't believe I paid so much for a used piece of jewellery!  LOL

Thanks! I'll give that a try for my next item.  That must have been what was used for the item I lost, because I swear it was the very last second that the bid was placed. I didn't even have a chance to get mine in.

Auction Sniper is a cool tool. It keeps the fact that you are interested in an item secret, and you don't have to post any bids on ebay. Thereby avoiding a bidding war. And you don't even have to be around. But you do have to determine the maximum amt you are willing to pay for an item, then set it and forget it.

Congratulations! I love eBay, and buy most of my stuff there, especially jewelry.

Lovely brooches; they'd be nice for St. Patrick's Day. Are they Weiss or another designer?

I'm not even sure. I forget what the description said.

The reason I wanted it so badly is because I have one or 2 pieces with a similar " style"  and stone colours.  So I'm thinking they are from the same designer.  I'll have to go and dig in my jewel boxes and find the one I'm thinking about.

It's coming international registered mail from New Jersey. So it shouldn't take long to get here. I can hardly wait!!!

A friend of mine has been browsing Etsy for vintage jewelry. She's developed an intolerance to whatever metal her wedding bad is made of (white gold I think) so she is looking for vintage platinum.  There are some really beautiful pieces out there!

Thank you. I'll definitely look there.

I have a love for brooches. I can't stand wearing something around my neck.

I snipe items. I have it down to within the last 5 seconds.  I got sniped a few times many years ago and I just figured might as well join them.

Husband sells often and we watch the bids roll in in the last 2 minutes, always exciting!

Love the brooch you won!  And I don't even like brooches.

I do quite a bit of ebay shopping myself,  I'm something of a cheapskate when it comes to buying for myself.  If there's something the hubby wants I ask him what his high bid would be---and then I usually increase it by about $25.   I've gotten pretty good at sneaking a bid in within the last 10 seconds or so of an auction.  And sometimes I do lose out.  I guess that's the fun of it---there's always another "whatchamacallit" out there waiting for me.
