She came to us in 1996 and walked into the house like she owned it. She was afraid to sit on the furniture and was very content to lay on the rug right inside the kitchen door. She told us that her name was Whisper and she became the first RugCat. Two months later, she gave birth to five RugKittens in a clothesbasket in the bedroom. She was a wonderful adoptive mother to Banshee.....and even to both Rick and me. We were all her kids.
We said good-bye to Whisper this afternoon. She was 19 years old, in renal failure, and she could no longer eat that well. We knew it was time. Saying good-bye to such a trusted and loving friend is never easy, but we knew that it was the best thing we could do for her.
Baby girl, you can run and play at the Bridge without pain. Hydrox, Spike and Banshee have welcomed you with open paws. We will always miss you and you will be in our hearts forever.
Knowing that it is their time doesn't make it any easier. 
Whisper not doing so well of late. I am sorry, so sorry that she has passed on to the bridge. It was her time and she lived to a ripe old age with a life filled with love, dreams come true and the comforts of a loving home but it is still heartbreaking and heartwrenching to let them go, say goodbye. My thoughts, prayers and vibes are coming to you today. I know
