Hi there! Was kindly directed to the proper introductions forum by speakhandsforme
Black one's named Pebble, while the orange and white one's name is Marble. My two baby boys who are soon celebrating their 1st birthday (March 23!) Even if the house is majorly attached to the doggie darling, a show type pitbull named Cupcake, even she loves the little things more than they love her! These two are strictly indoor cats, with complete supervision when it's time for some fresh air out on the porch.

I was looking for special diets and considerations for cats infected with Feline Leukemia Virus yesterday. It's a long story, but Marble was misdiagnosed with FeLV. I took him for a test at another vet, and for a second opinion as well, and he's fine. I wouldn't have found out that there was a test for it here if it weren't for articles and posts. The vet that diagnosed Marble with it didn't help or volunteer any information at all so I had to look for all of it myself. I found another vet that had the test for it, and he tested negative. On a good-to-know basis, this is what the test looks like, and these are Marble's results.

I ended up on a ton of sites searching for a special diet that he might need, and stories of surviving FeLV+ fur babies to make me stop crying over the first vet's diagnosis. She said she didn't test or have a test for it which led me to my search. At no time did it pass my mind that the vet of all people could be wrong, but suggestions and stories I read all over the net were comforting. And I am sooo happy that she's wrong.

The second vet (the one that actually ran a test for FeLV before going off on diagnoses) said that Marble might just need a diet change because his dietary demands are becoming different at 1 year, and suggested canned wet food. She also prescribed ear drops for his mites, and I ended up on catsite.com looking for suggestions to administer the ear drops cos he would fuss so hard.

I was told he'll be fine but I'll relax once he gains a few more. I'm waiting for the 1st vet's response to the lab tests she did that had a completely different result from the 2nd test done.

As for Pebble, he's heavy and healthy with no signs of slowing down.
Still a crazy thief that steals everything he feels like from my bag! He's learned to get into the tiniest openings of my bags, even the ones with a zipper. Last he stole was a sealed bag of strawberry candy belts. He ran under the bed with treasure in tow! He didn't get any though, got it back before he could tear into it. Can't be too sure what's in stuff these days.

Hi Mani
your username, in our language, means "peanuts." I thought you were from the PH too. Haha my mistake! Thank you for the warm welcome. When our adopted family furballs get sick, I get super worried and I can't sleep a proper wink cos I'm notorious for worrying too much. I had to make sure. Looking forward to seeing you around TCS!

Mani is Sanskrit for 'Jewel' as well.  But Peanut is good

I've been to the Philipines, if that counts

Well peanuts is cute, but the sanskrit translation is way better.
I hope your visit here was a good experience!

Hi, welcome to TCS!  Your cats are lovely.  My Daisy is a bit of a thief, too.  She would probably love to get her little hands on some strawberry candy.

Hi nurseangel, thank you for the welcome and the compliment! I'll make sure it gets to them. They really are weird with the candy!
Marble's a little thief too but he doesn't work as hard as Pebble does. Unlike Pebble, Marble drops the goods when I catch him. Little cat burglars.
