A friend of mine worked for months trying to socialize a feral cat, Mystique. Very very slow progress.
So she brings up her two pure bred Vizsla to see how Mystique would react: love at first sight, at least on Mystique's part. She purred for the first time, her eyes relaxed; she meandered around their legs, head butted them. She relaxed visibly when with them. We were able to pet her for the first time when her attention was on those dogs.
Sadly, a couple of months later Mystique escaped from the house and did not return.
