OK so this is the story of my poor Rosie's first trip to our new vet. So I feel like a horrible kitty mommy because I waited until after she was a year old to get her spayed, because like an idiot I figured she would be OK and it wasn't a big deal. Now I know differently and that it was foolish to not do it sooner. My poor girl who had never been in heat at all, went into heat TWICE before her surgery about 3 weeks before her surgery and she was in heat at the time of the operation. I don't know who was more miserable, between her constant yowling and her fanny being in my face at all times
or me constantly having to scratch her rear and listen to her. It drove me and my hubby BANANAS!!
Don't get me wrong I love her dearly but there's only so much a momma and daddy can take!! :) So I called and searched around on the Internet for a great and affordable vet, until I found Guardian Pet Hospital here in Denton. I have to say coming from a small town with an awesome small town vet to this place was a no-brainer. The Vet Techs and the Vet were amazing to say the least. They were so nice and caring and even when I called them several times with questions they answered me so politely and you can tell they genuinely care! (ever since abbey lane died I have become very very cautious with Rosie because I want her around for a long time and to be as healthy as possible!) So I made her appt.which was on March 5th and I took her in that morning to set us up as new clients and to drop her off etc. Well that afternoon I got a call that everything went great and I could pick her up at around 4:30. So when I get there I'm talking to the head vet tech/receptionist and she's telling me about how good Rosie had been all day and I was actually kind of well surprised. Rosie is I guess what you call a quirky kitty because she isn't usually too fond of strangers or new places so I figured she would be a terror causing all sorts of problems but I thought well maybe I underestimate her at times because she warms up to people fairly quickly if you give her the chance but she definitely can tell when someones not a cat person because she tries everything in her power to make that person really really not like cats, because shes a menace!!
. Well at about that time I hear a cat yowling and screaming in the back and immediately I know who its coming from.. the vet tech tries to assure me its probably one of the clinic cats but something in me knows better and it then becomes known its Rosie. Am I surprised? No not really because I know my babygirl and her cattitude! She became really upset because first they put her e-collar on her which she did not and still hates, no despises. But what made her even more mad was them trying to put her back into her carrier, which she isn't "fond" of,  and all that did was p*ss her off even more.
so they had to put her in a cardboard carrier, another mood ruiner and by the time they brought her to me, mind you this was like 15 minutes after I got there which if she had been good would have only been like 5 minutes. She was livid. She was trying to break out of the box, hissing and growling not being the good kitty she had been earlier. I was kind of embarrassed that she acted like that but I did chuckle and said see this is the wrath of Rosie and showed them the scar on my hand to prove it lol she's kind of a Dr. Jekyll and Mrs. Hyde Cat :) The poor thing just wanted to go home because not only did she get spayed she also had a cyst removed from her back(harmless but we removed just to be sure!)So I knew she just wanted to go home! Of course once we got home she was fine, still mad and groggy but better. Now she is doing soo much better and the stitches from her spay are almost if not completely gone but she still has them on her back so the dreaded cone stays on until hopefully friday, I'm hoping she will be back to her old self as soon as I get to remove the e-collar. She did get Micro-chipped but it was on accident and free because the vet tech accidentally forgot I didn't want her MC'd on this visit so I got it for free because it was her mistake! (wooo!!) I thought I would share her story because it was slightly entertaining and as a cautionary tale to spay your cats while they are kittens so this doesn't happen to you!! replies are very much appreciated and If you have any questions I would love to answer them!!

That is funny. Poor Rosie. I can't imagine what cats think when they wake up after anesthesia with pain and stitches. Like, what in the world just happened to me. My cat doesn't like the carrier, the drive or the vet's either. When I took her in for a dental cleaning, they had me come pick her up a little early because she would not stop meowing VERY loudly. I could hear her as soon as I walked in. A little embarrassing for sure.

It's probably worse than me waking up after my bypass, with 3 tubes and 2 wires in my chest, a catheter in - well you know - an oxygen tube in my nose and a central IV port in my neck.  I was so stoned on morphine and oxycodone, it was almost funny to me, but at least I could reason what was going on.
