theory for the fat pad

my husband actually came up with this theory (not sure if its been theorized before) that the 'fat pad' is something like a food store. Kind of like camels. because cats are natural predators they dont always get food and have to make up for that fact.

lol. it sounds pretty good but that doesnt explain why ALL cats dont have one.

Hope - the fat pad is the fatty part of a cats tummy that sometimes hangs down.

That theory makes sense to me.

it sounds pretty good but that doesnt explain why ALL cats dont have one.
Maybe it's being gradually eliminated by the natural evolution of domestic cats since they don't need it for survival anymore.

now i'm wondering why does boy boy needs his fat pad for when there's so much food at home... saving it for the night???
