Our cat Bodie the 14lb Orange tabby was a stray originaly then lived for 8 years in a house with 10 other cats.  When our in laws visit for the weekend they bring the 6 lb Chiwwa/Yokki mix over.  The dog is OK, with the cat but tries to sniff it when the cats back is turned witch leads to a hiss, and posturing.  The cat stands his ground, and has batted the daogs face onse, he has all his claws.  How can we make them both feel a bit better about each other?

Thanks for the article, I will try it next time.  We did trim his claws just before or I think he would have damaged the dogs eyes.  Also Bodie loved eating the dogs kibble.  We took it away almost three times cause he tried going for it.  The dog kibble he ate should not hurt him correct.

As long as it is not his regular diet, a small amount shouldn't hurt Bodie. Cat kibble, as all cat foods, contains taurine and several other things that dog kibble doesn't have. Taurine is essential for cats.

Cat eating dog kibble once wont hurt but if its a everyday thing and he wont eat the cat food then yes its not a good thing

when the yorkie has his food out put the cat some were else and time the dog

and trim the kittys claws before the doggie comes over
