: Love ya Sammycat
Already taken care of, We went two weeks ago and Sammycat is now on a diet and not a happy camper at all, but it is in his best interest that this weight is taken off.Originally posted by hissy
blondiecat, I hate to break it to you, but it is quite unhealthy for cats to be this obese. It opens them up to long term and sometimes very nasty health issues, diabetes, liver and organ failure among some of the problems. I know you love this cat, and I would hope that you would make an appointment with your vet and talk to him about a safe and proper diet program for Sammy. He has to be very uncomfortable lugging all the weight around, and eventually it will show wear and tear on his system and his personality. It really is nothing to joke about.
Yeah I know I would hate to loose my fave boy for stupitidy on my part by letting him stay overweight. Since he is already physcially challenged by his birth defect of missing part of his back bone, I have him checked over at the vet's office twice a year, more if I see a problem with his back legs. The vet has said that he is doing well now and should be a lot better when I get some of the weight off of him. Thanks MA for caring enough to tell me thoughOriginally posted by hissy
YAY!!! I am so relieved to hear this. He may not be a happy camper now, but if the weight comes off slowly and over time, he will perk up and be a much better companion for you- and be around a lot longer too!
