Oh, I see. Max's were white. I think it is kind of unusual for them to have white ones. Nevertheless, your little buddy is a beauty.
What's weird is that the vibrissae on his front legs are white, and the ones above his eyes are a deeper black than those on either side of his nose.

I can't get over how much he looks like he just belongs.  He's certainly meant to be with you

He just moved in and made himself completely at home. The only things that seemed novel to him were the stairs and the ceiling-high cat tree. He has a habit of sitting on the second step from the top and waiting for you when you're upstairs. Since the staircase is dark, all you see is big green eyes peeping at you at foot level. I tell him he looks like the Monster from the Black Lagoon. :lol3:

My in-laws brought this basket back from Hungary when Jamie was a kitten. He used it two or three times, but Mogli really likes it when there's too much sun on his window perch:

I missed ALL of this! Tricia, he is absolutely ADORABLE! :lovegrin2:

:rbheart: Jamie :rbheart: clearly had a hand in this one, it's all just so natural. :rub:

As a kitty that needs to be an alone kitty, how does he react to the neighborhood visitors? And does he go out on a leash?

He's only been out on the secured balcony, because I don't want to get him all the shots he'd need for regular walks due to his health problems (IBD and hay fever). He's been okay seeing cats out the window, but is even worse than Jamie was when he sees another cat at the vets' office. He growls and tries to break out of his carrier to get to them. He's not too sure about dogs, though he has a lot of fun teasing the dog next door when she's out on her balcony. He crawls across the floor, pops his head up and meows, then runs inside when she barks at him (wagging her tail). He waits till she settles down, then starts all over again.

The last picture just melts my heart. We, too, have a special black boy and he is irresistible - probably the most cuddly of all the cats we have - he sleeps in my arms at night, purring in my ear as I go to sleep.

He's gorgeous, just like a mini panther! Mogli is very cuddly, too. It seems to be a common trait among black cats, IME. We had one when I was a kid, and I always wanted another black cat because Midnight was such a sweetheart.

This is of Mogli in one of his favorite places, i.e., in his "cave" under the kitchen table.

Like a little panther. Gorgeous. He's really a grown cat now, isn't he?

I've never had a black cat. Is it true that they seek out sunny spots more than other cats, because the sun warms black fur so easily?

I've found the opposite is true with Mogli - he avoids really sunny spots. He's not one to get under blankets, either, and will stretch out in front of an oscillating fan on hot days. He loves being out on the secured balcony in the morning, evening or at night, but avoids it like the plague in the afternoon because it's too sunny for him.
