I just found this thread, and I cant tell you how absolutely thrilled I am that Mogli "found" you
.  Nothing helps a broken heart like a 'toddler' (cat toddler, that is
)  They are just so darned cute and funny with all their antics.  And Mogli is so adorable
.  If you can't tell, I, too, have a particular fondness for black cats.

Congratulations!  Like Gail, I think Jamie probably had a hand in this, don't you?  He knew you were missing him, so found you someone to help with your sadness.

I, too, just saw this thread!!!!!!! But I saw your avatar earlier today in Health and knew you had opened you heart and home to another. :heart2: And I am jumping for joy :jump: over how Mogli chose you at the shelter that day. I wonder if somebody "upstairs" had anything to do with this. (:rbheart: J ) :rub: AWWWWW Tricia! Congratulations. He is really, really, really handsome and I just love his coat color. He is gorgeous and I think I see some stripes in that deep red black coloring and the whisps of white on his chest are very special!!! What a cute face and profile too. Wow, he just settled right in and glad he is such a piggy. My Wendall is a sandwich stealer too. There have been a few times when I make Larry's sandwich for work and turn my back for only a moment or two and turn back around and the sandwich is gone, bag and all. :lol3: It works both ways you know, Mogli being your grief counselor and you being his savior. How wonderful and joyous. :heart3: :clap:

He really has wormed his way into our hearts. His fur looks reddish when the sun shines on/through it, and I imagine the black will fade a bit if he spends a lot of time out on the secured balcony this summer. He's got a few white hairs on his belly and right shoulder, too, but not enough to qualify as spots.

We still haven't found any foods he doesn't try to steal. Today he actually licked the top of the pepper mill, which made him sneeze, but that didn't faze him. It would be understandable if he'd been a feral or stray starving on the streets, but that's not the case. We're being really careful about what he eats (grain-free canned with some pumpkin), and his digestive problems are a lot better.

Maybe Jamie did send him my way. It was weird - that morning I looked out the kitchen window and saw a little black cat playing in our front yard. By the time I got outside, it had disappeared. That afternoon I went to the shelter, and there was Mogli. I haven't seen the black cat since, and I think I know all the neighborhood cats, since we're the "cat drug dealers" (we have catnip in the backyard, so most of them stop by for their daily fix from early spring till late fall).

I've just read this...  It's a lovely story

I hope Jamie's food addiction is settling down

Mogli has conquered the cat tree and is now climbing all the way to the top and back down, which he seems to prefer to jumping down. He was at the vets' office yesterday (we think he's allergic to poultry), and I learned that one of the vets had wanted to adopt him, but couldn't because she already has a cat and the shelter said Mogli had to live as a singleton.

He doesn't stay stationary for long, so getting shots of him is difficult. Most of the ones I've managed to get are of him on his window perch. Those scratches on the leather couch are all from him jumping up there the past two and a half weeks.

That boy is just adorable! I'm so glad that Jamie helped him find you.....he's a sweetie. There's always a soft spot in my heart for little black boys (our RB Hydrox was a little black boy with white hairs on his neck). There's something special about them.

Congratulations on your new little one! I hope we get to see lots of pictures!!

This cat has the most intense look in his eyes. I think it is wisdom and he is thinking of what to do next.:lol3:

I know it's a little late but your post is such a wonderful story.  I am sure Jamie sent Mogli to you but it says a lot that Mogli practically took over your home upon arrival.

Congratulations on your new fur baby.

If you're not okay with him scratching the leather couch, you could drape a blanket over it for a while. Then if he digs his claws into the blanket, it comes flopping down on him!

I think that when we mourn someone we love, one of the best ways to get through it is to show love to each other--hold on to one another, and you don't feel so alone any more. Mogli sounds like a cat with a lot of love to give, not to mention a lot of trouble to cause!

We have it covered for the time being, though he usually manages to pull the blanket off on top of himself since there's nowhere to tuck it. He's really getting better at climbing and jumping. We have a tall bookcase next to the cat tree, and it's one of his new favorite places now that he's figured out how easy it is to jump back to the tree.

It is so heart-warming to see these pictures and know how well Mogli has fitted into the household. Jamie will never be forgotten but there is always room in our hearts for one more.

It's been four weeks since we lost Jamie, and I miss him terribly. Having Mogli here has really helped. He's such a funny little thing (with a gargantuan appetite).

HIs whiskers are white like Max's. I love him. He is adorable. These black kitties just have a special place in my heart.

That must be from the camera or the way the light is hitting - in reality his whiskers are black. He loves his window seats. That one has a great view of a tree some magpies seem to be thinking about building their nest in this year, so he's always on the lookout for them.

Oh, I see. Max's were white. I think it is kind of unusual for them to have white ones. Nevertheless, your little buddy is a beauty.
