Hi my cat had got pregnant 17th January and dead on 7 weeks pregnant (7th march) she started acting very strange and suddenly started pushing ... A still born came out then a empty sac... After this she was totally fine and wasn't in no pain threw it all... IV been in contact with the vet and they said to leave her 48 hours see if any more come .. So I have done this and rung them yesterday to see what I should do they said well if she's fine and eating and drinking and not bleeding anywhere she should be fine... Now I want to know if her body has maybe just rejected it and carrying on normal with a pregnancy with healthy kittens?? Coz she still feels pregnant????????????? xx

Yes, it is possible as you say, she may have the others  still inside, hopefully alive and healthy, and will deliver them hopefully healthy in about two weeks at the proper time.

The vets advice is essentially correct. If she seems contend, no problems etc, it isnt necessary to rush in. You must watch out of course, complications CAN come, but if you arent made of money, it is a good bet  there is no panic.

Of course, playing it safe you do visit them vets with the cat...

Good you did phoned the vets, better they do guess than we do guess.   :)

Welcome to our Forums!

Good luck!

She still feels pregnant?

As said, she may be. Another common scenario, is she is a little swollen inside, and that is why you feel there may be something inside.

Does it move?  I mean, you can usually feel kittens move from about 2 weeks before the normal delivery.

I maybe would get her checked over by a vet incase of any infection caused by the stillborn. but if there was an infection she probably would be showing signs of being really ill by now so only you can judge this x x

If you have a choice, dont let them x-ray, ultra sound or palpation is safer (yes, not so dangerous) and also a lot cheaper.

Some vets, esp in US, are fond of X-rays, because they do have the gears, but it should be avoided in those "just curious" cases. Of course fine when medically needed.

Good luck!

An ultrasound can be more useful than an X-ray as in good hands it can show if the kittens are alive or not, if they can find a beating heart.  If she is still pregnant she is due on or around the 22nd of this month.  Hopefully she will be neutered once she is either found to be not pregnant, or has had her kittens.
