Ever got anything free ?

I was wondering if anyone ever got anything free ? Did you win a contest on the radio ? What was the prize ?

We once won a brand new bike for being the 5th caller.

It could have been a free pizza, tickets, whatever.

We won a free round trip on Southwest Airlines many years ago at a luggage store.  We used it to take a 4-day vacation in New Orleans.

I won two i-pod minis, an i-pod touch, and a Wii in safety drawings at work. 

My entry was pulled out to qualify for a final drawing for a $100,000 custom 1955 Chevy convertible a year ago.  I was one of 19 finalists.  Needless to say, I didn't win.  Fooey.
 

Yes, I have won a lot of things over the years. The most memorable was when I was in the 4th grade. There were only one or two TV channels. All was in black and white and everything was snowy. But we were watching a program on Wednesday night. They asked a riddle and had two winners, a country and a city winner. The question was "What nut is also the largest country in South America.' When I said Brazil, my dad said we are going to send this off for you. We had to include a Zesta cracker box top. My aunt ran the community post office at the time so we went down the road to her house. She accepted the letter and postmarked it for us. The next Wednesday night we watched and heard them call my name for the country winner. The city winner won a new bicycle. I won a set of 14K gold/diamond wedding rings. I was so mad because I had never had a new bike. In fact, we had one bike, made from spare part and me and my sisters shared it. When we got the wedding ring set, my dad took it to the local jeweler and verified it was genuine. I still have the ring set and have worn it for many years. I recently had the prongs replaced, polished and soldered together, They are very special to me and now I am glad I won the rings, not the bike.:lol3:

Monet won twice in two different contests.. one was Greenies Smile where he won a photo shoot, a year supply of Greenies and a page in the Bark magazine (photos in my album).. another was a video contest where he won $1,000.

I've also won the superbowl pool at work.

I once won all three door prizes at a function we attended. First prize was a wine cellar, which took us years to drink. Second prize was a fancy beer stine and something else, which I don't remember. Third prize was a barbecue apron, IIRC.

I rarely win anything.

When I was in Jr. High, I won, from a radio contest, tickets to a local show (gave them to my brother), a CD and a 12 pack of Powerade. More recently, I had won a single bottle of nail polish in a contest but thanks to some other winners getting the wrong prizes shipped, the company sent all winners 2 whole nail polish collections. So I ended up with 12 bottles, free. That was totally the highlight of my life, since I am a polish addict.

Back in 1997, I won a contest on the radio, by being the 10th caller, or something, and I won tickets to a James Taylor concert, which was pretty awesome, because he's one of my favorite singers.

And in 1965, The Beatles were coming to Minneapolis in August, for a concert, and a local TV Magazine ran a contest - "What Are 5 Questions You Would Ask The Beatles" - and the winner (and a friend) got to go to the press conference before the concert. (You had to have tickets to the concert before you could enter the contest, and, of course, we did) My best friend, Sharon, and I got together and thought of 10 questions, randomly divided them up and each sent in an entry. I won!!! I was so excited, I was running around the house screaming, and, of course, I would take Sharon as my 2nd person. Sharon and her family were down in Arkansas on vacation, there was no internet then, of course, no cell phones, so I had to write her a letter!! (She still has it.) We went to the press conference, I got some pictures of them walking in, but then some big old reporters and photographers jammed in in front of us, so they blocked our view. It was very exciting, though. And we met George Harrison's sister, Louise, and got a picture with her. And, of course, afterwards, we went to the concert and screamed our heads off.

Very exciting day! :nod: Can't believe that was almost 48 years ago!! Yikes!

Won 3 snack tables in a newspaper contest a long time ago. Also tickets to a "oldies" concert in Ft. Lauderdale some years ago. Nothing else of great value. Still holding out for that lottery -- but it would help if I bought tickets (which I don't).

This probably doesn't qualify - but every time I get a check ("Big Fat Check") from Ebates.com - I think I've won big.

In February I was sent a check for a little over $9.00!  They give $$ for some pet supplies online stores, plus all kinds of other internet shopping.  They even have a plug-in for easy shopping.  When I'm doing a Google Search, the logo shows up on some of the "stores" so I look at those sites first to see if I can get a better deal AND a check.

I won a talking Scooby Doo stuffed animal when I was in lower school.  Well, I don't to this day know whether I won it or my brother.  They had this kids' day at the mall with a drawing for the prize, and we had both entered our names.  My mom picked us up from some sort of event and it was sitting in the back seat.  When we asked which one of us had won it she said that our cards were stuck together, so we had to share it.  Smart mommy!  Otherwise, no.  I have not won anything that is worth remembering apparently!
 

Back when I worked for a bank, Mastercard was running a promotion that for every debit card opened with an account, the teller received a free "swipe" in the contest.  Most didn't bother but I did and ended up winning:

2 x-box 360's

3 portable DVD players

iPod Touch

2 smaller mp3 players

2 digital cameras

over $1000.00 worth of gift cards

yep, especially when you're feeding and caring for 19 cats!  I did find out, though - if you enter into a program with auto-shipping that you don't get the cash back - you only get for "new" orders.  I have auto ship for PetFlow.com, and when I didn't receive more cash back I asked ebates.com about this.  They got back to me after they researched and confirmed that they didn't send cash back for each order on the auto-ship.  So, sometimes I just go through the hoops and make new orders every time.

For free? Only on TCS. I got a hug mug and a 6 month subscription to the Premier Lounge from one of the contests here. Everything else, I actually had to pay money for. The best was probably a raffle I won at work for Relay for Life. MIL and I each put in $5 and I won a HUGE basket full of candles and homemade crafts, including a hand crocheted afghan. There were dollies, napkins, potholders, figurines, pictures, jewelry, a lot of good stuff. The basket was big enough to hold 3 cats and was a cat bed until it basically fell apart (I think it was also used as a scratching post). I'm not sure which one of us won it so we split it, but I took what I wanted out of it first! I've also won a few 50/50 drawings.

Oh, and when I was in high school, I did win a complete record collection of someone (yeah, it was memorable) but I had to pay for that too. I'm not very lucky.

I guess it could count but I was actually looking for something free from a radio station like free tickets to a concert,wrestling match  (WWE) but it did count.

I won a $50.00 Mr.Chewy gift certificate in a TCS contest and was so tickled.  We used it to buy cat food.  And last year at Employee Appreciation Day at work, I won a Vera Bradley handbag.

Anyhow, to answer the original question, I don't think I've actually won anything for free. However, I have won various things from art contests and the like. I can't remember them all right now, though.
