My cat has been pregnant for a while (not sure how long) I made her a nesting area but she showed little interest, I made another nesting area out of a box an and a few towels I thought she would rather have the bigger cave like one than this little one that's open lol. I made this nesting area yesterday and I just noticed she had dug the towel and there was urine On this towel. I'm not sure what this means or if this is nesting behavior and if it is, I was wondering if this would be a good way to tell how close she Is to labor. Thanks!

Can you see and/or feel the babies moving around? If so you are about two weeks away from delivery.

As far as the nesting behavior: some cats like to get set up early and others prefer the frantic scramble once labor begins. The best thing you can do is make her nesting box the most attractive place to give birth and cover up any other places that she may be tempted to go (under the bed, in a closet, in a drawer, ect). If you have done all that then all you can really do is wait and hope she chooses the box you have made!

The digging in the box is a good nesting sign (and a sign that she likes it as she's trying to make it her own) but it's not good if she peed in there. Does she have a litterbox close by? Had those towels been used with another animal previously? She may have just been marking her area. Make sure you wash what she soiled with a really good enzyme remover to avoid her re-marking and watch her closely.

I wish there was a way to tell you how close she is but unfortunately you just have to play the waiting game. Hang in there!

I have been able to feel the kittens from almost two weeks ago, so I guess she's pretty close! Her litter box is close to this one, I'll definetly move it and wash the towels. She has been leaking milk, shes been very affectionate and wants me to hold her all the time! I try not to pick her up a lot or at all. The waiting game is definetly hard! Lol and thank you!

Oh yeah it definitely sounds like she is close! Now is the time to sleep in the same room as her (if possible) or at least check on her every few hours so that you can try and be there for the birth. 9 times out of 10 everything goes fine but you want to be there just in case.

Fingers crossed that she has them soon and that the delivery goes well!

I'm right there with you! My older queen who is on her 5 litter has been nesting sense she was about 5 weeks. She has been contracting for a week, lost her plug....4 or 5 days ago. I feel like it will never happen! My first timer queen has not nested at all and she has lost her plug as well? Cats are all so different! They both have milk although I haven't noticed it leaking. It's driving me nuts, all night they act like labor will start at any minute and during they day they mostly sleep. Waiting is so hard:D can't wait to see your pictures!!!

I know! I dot know about her plug as I'm gone mostly during the day now, Im going to be getting a horse tomorrow so I'm really busy! But she has leaked almost every time I go to pick her up! Just starting yesterday I've noticed how shes been in the nesting area ALL the time she's either in it sleeping or out of it eating lol I think her stomache dropped yesterday morning. I guess we'll find out when she's ready! Can't wait for the kitties!!

Oh my gosh I've been SO busy! I just got a horse a couple days ago! But she's doing great! Im still waiting for those kittens! She's been following me everywhere and won't let me walk without her rubbing on my feet and legs lol so Im sitting by her nesting area and sure enough she went in :) this morning shes been having discharge? I dont know what its supposed to look like or maybe she lost her plug but she's been leaving this greenish liquid around and earlier this morning there was a small amount of blood.her stomache dropped already! I'm pretty sure it did lol but she's non stop purring so I think she's pretty close!

It sounds like tonight is the night!!!! Good luck, if her waters did break you should see her start contracting soon!!! Stay with her and make sure all babies and placentas are accounted for!! Good luck!!
