Greetings Everybody!

I convinced Mithu to turn the laptop back over to me, (I'm a slightly better typist).

Mithu = feline

Kalpana = human

I'm very glad to have found this site & hope to prevail upon the kindness, expertise, experience and wisdom of all of you to keep the furry king as completely healthy and happy as "hoomunly" possible. I will do my best to reciprocate!

If I violate any forum protocol, (posting in the wrong thread, replying incorrectly etc.), please let me know.

We adopted Mithu when he was about 4 1/2 months old. We think he is a Norwegian Forest Cat, approx. 2 1/2 years old.

Thankfully, he doesn't have any diagnosed medical conditions, (and hopefully no undiagnosed ones, either). My questions and concerns center on behavior, general well-being, and my current obsession: nutrition. While working within the constraints of my limited budget, schedule & sanity, I want to make sure I'm feeding him a diet that will contribute to his long-term health.

After spending a lot of time at catinfo.org, I switched Mithu from Wellness dry to Merrick B.G. canned and now Wellness canned. The transition has not been an easy one and I'm so frustrated right now that I'm seriously contemplating going from 100% wet to 50%-50% wet and dry. I have questions about feline nutrition, pica, cat poop (yeah!), vet competency (or lack thereof), 1st dental cleanings, & more cat poop. And cat pee.

Okay, so now I'm not sure where to go to post about these various, specific and interrelated issues...

I really hope I can add something useful to the discussion!

May you and your kitties be well!

-Thanks

Hello and welcome to TCS.

Transitioning a cat to foods YOU want them to eat can certainly be a trying experience. You coax and prod, sprinkle stuff on top, ect, all cause you want whats best for them. All they know is they want what tastes good!
I myself am going through one of those periods, my 2 kitties suddenly turning their noses up at what they have been eating fine till now.

Seems like the 2 forums you'd be most interested in is Cat nutrition, and cat health. Possibly behavior. There are a lot of articles already addressing some of the more common issues also. So explore the site and enjoy, and of course post away with any questions you have. You will find very knowledgeable people here.

Hi, welcome to TCS!  Though I'm not one of the people who knows a great deal about cat nutrition, as Katluver4life said, there are a lot of folks here who are.  It's very to meet you.

So true! I'm dreading the day that Mithu suddenly turns up his adorable nose at what he's been happily scarfing down for months or years, (and what I probably have a case of in the cabinet!) But first I'd have to get his menu completely settled again. I'll post about that in the nutrition area.

nurseangel: Its very nice to meet you too!
