I have 2 lovely cats just a year old who are sisters, been convinced peppa is pregnant due to over affection, weight gain and pink nipples. A week later her nipples are now pale and she's quite obviously in heat, crying out. Due to my door being repaired she managed to get out and was with a Tom. This was a few days ago now and she's still very much in heat. This is my first experience owning cats so I have no idea if it is possible to be in heat and pregnant. Also her sister Zoe is regularly attacking her, I can only assume the constant cries are cracking her up just as much as it is me, I've tried to separate them but find it unfair as they have both always had the run of the house. Any advice anyone can give me will be great. P.S both cats will be spayed as soon as I can, most likely this month providing Peppa isn't pregnant

It seems it is not so unusual they can be preg and in heat simultaneously.  Perhaps it is why it happens they have two different litters at the same time. Deliver one and the next three weeks later. Both healthy.  NOT common, but happens.

Another possibility may be she had an early spontan abortion, and is in heat anew.

So spaying/abortion is NOT an option for you?  Medically talking it is no especial danger with this, as the pregnancy is fairly early.

Welcome to our Forums!

Good luck!

If you spay a cat straight after you saw her being mated she isn't pregnant at that point.  Cats are induced ovulators so before she is actually pregnant e.g. conception has taken place the ovaries have to release eggs and the sperm have to make their way to those eggs.  This takes time - a couple of days or so.

Please get your other cat spayed asap (this week rather than this month - as soon as you can get her in at the vets), and please consider getting the cat that might be pregnant spayed at the same time.

Spaying a pregnant cat isn't a nice thing to do, but it's also not nice that every day hundreds of cats and kittens in shelters are euthanasied because they don't get homes fast enough.  I'd much rather abort than have to euthanase a living animal.  If you have people already interested in kittens, point them at the shelters.
