I've had this boy for going on a year now, and I just can't settle on a name for him. His last owner called him Hooper :/, but she didn't have him for long so he didn't really know that name. I've tried Gideon, Panther, Jaguar, but nothing is sticking. Usually a cat "tells" me his name after a bit, but this boy isn't talking! :lol3: So I'm taking name suggestions. He's not a goofy boy. Affectionate with people, kind of a bully with other cats, was a tom for too long, has a bit of a swagger. All black except for a small white spot on his chest. Sorry for the poor picture; i just took it with my cell phone, and he didn't want to look up :tongue2:.

Macavity!  The swaggering bad-boy from the musical "Cats".  Plus, you could call him Mac.  :)
Haha, I did actually consider that name! But haven't tried it for long enough. Definitely on the "try" list. Jet is nice, too, but I always think it's a female name for some reason. . .

I was going to say Jet!

There's always the obvious "Shadow" but I feel it's more of a dog name than a cat name... Pepsi sounds more like a girl name... Gosh this is a tough one!

Maybe Axel or Onix?

How about Locket? For the little white spot on his chest.

What a handsome boy! I once had 2 black females I named Hershey and Coco. Here's a few I can think of:

Musta (Finnish for black)

Hitchcock

Licorice

Felix (cartoon black cat)

BC (lol for black cat)

Eight Ball

Midnight

Phantom

Oreo

Love black cats

in transition...
Nero. Italian for "black" and fitting for a cat with some swagger. (Just don't give him a fiddle.)

Some good suggestions...I like Nero and Hitchcock. Jet is nice....I've always thought it was a boyish name. My own slightly lame suggestion...Jack, as in black jack. I'd probably go with a name I liked that wasn't color related rather than working too hard on a black-related name. Our own black cat is named Eko (pronounced echo) after Mr. Eko on Lost...a little color related since he was a very big dark Nigerian man.
