Hi All,

i have many queries about the T-Cyte. I am sorry i cant help much. I am not a vet. Just a mummy with 5 fur kids, 3 of which are FIV+. After the T-cyte injection, one of the kitties is no longer FiV+. All i can say is what i have observed from my 2 FIV+ fur kids. They are doing well and growing fatter by the day not to mention very mischievious. Please dont get me wrong, i am not advocating the use of T-Cyte buti can only relate the conditions of my babies after using T-Cyte.

Hi there!

I have been looking into LTCI, although my vet doesn't seem to use it.  I have written to ask her about it.  I only found out about it because my cat is not well at the moment, so I have been looking up information. My cat is 15 yrs old; we found out two years ago that she is FIV positive when she had to have a blood test after getting bitten by another cat.    She has never shown any signs of sickness; in fact she has never been ill before now.  She went off her food after we had visitors, followed by her rabies vaccination.  I thought these events might just have stressed her out, but she is still not back to her normal self.  Her recent blood tests showed none of the culprits the vet was suspecting - except the low white blood count typical of FIV.   Since you have used LTCI, could you give me some idea of how much it costs and what is involved.

Thanks so much!

Liz

Hello , I'm just find out that my cat, 3 years old male, have Fiv and Felv virus:-( . We live in Serbia and we don't have good doctors or medical for animals. I love my Boki so much and I will do everything to help him. My friend was in New York and try to buy LTCI for my cat but they don't want to sell her. Can someone help us and explain me how can I buy this therapy for my cat? Thanks

My cat had Feline Leukemia, not FIV, but the LTCI didn't help him at all. It is a series of 3 shots given 7-10 days apart. My vet charged me $360.00 for the serum and $29.00 for an office visit for each shot, so one course cost $447.00. She gave the shots 10 days apart, with no improvement in red blood cell count.  We ordered another batch, and she gave them 5 days apart. No improvement.

I hope this helps.

I am looking into it also, but I believe only vets are allowed to buy the drug for injection.  The FDA will not allow it to be sold directly to the public.

He had it from birth, contracted from his mother. He was 22 months old when he died.  He got sick in September and died in January. During those last months, in addition to the LTCI, he had Epogen injections and Immunoregulin injections. He developed lymphoma, and we took him to an endocrinologist for chemotherapy. The lymphoma went into remission after a couple of weeks, but he kept getting weaker due to the anemia. During those months, he also had six blood transfusions, but the last two failed to raise his red blood cell count.

Hi Marzia,
Unfortunately this drug is not registered in Europe. I get LTCI from a vet working both in Hungary and Minneapolis. Anyway you can get in touch with the producer on phone:

800 -483-2104 ex 87, or

e-mail:
[email protected]

and they sure will deliver you the required injections.  You can find the address and phone number also in the Internet, if the above data are obosolate (I do not think that)

Thanks for your input.  My vet hadn't even heard of this.  But she did research it for me, and said that the only studies that showed positive results were done by the company that makes the treatment.  Hmmm! Not exactly unbiased, peer-reviewed research!   She did say it might be worth trying interferon.  Several cat owners have reported good results from that.  My biggest issue with my kitty right now is that she simply isn't interested in food. :(

I'm so sorry to hear of your struggles.  It's so hard to watch our beloved pets get sick.

I am taking things one day at a time here.  My cat's appetite is just about non-existent.  The good news from the blood tests is that all of her organs are fine (the vet had suspected pancreatitis), but we just can't figure out why she has gone off her food.  The thing is, she is 15 years old (and she has FIV), and radical expensive treatment seems inappropriate. Even when i took her for recent vaccines, the vet suggested that because of her age and fragility we shouldn't overwhelm her with vaccines, but only giver her she must have legally (rabies).   She was given an injected antibiotic, and I am supposed to be giving her oral antibiotics twice a day also.  But honestly, giving her the pills is so stressful for her, and she does her utmost to spit them out.  I hate that we have to go through this battle twice a day.  Of course if she had a normal appetite, I would crush the pill into some food.

For shore you understand me like I understand you.... Before 4 months I loose my dog, she was 13 years old and she have bones cancer. It was heart crush for me and I am not recovered yet. I must try everything to help him. Medical don't have side effects and it is enough for me.

Teddy was rescued several years ago, and we found out at the first vet visit that he was positive FIV.  My daughter brought her two "rescued shelter" cats home for the weekend.  Unbeknownst to me, they had herpes.  In addition to Teddy, I had three other cats in the house, and they ALL contracted herpes and were lethargic.  They were all put on antibiotics, and they eventually got better but have never been the same.  Teddy, however, being positive FIV, along with the herpes, almost died except for prednisone.  He has been on the lowest dose we can give him to control his symptoms, but his hair falls out, and he's losing toenails.  Two questions:  Is there any treatment other than Lysine and cat vitamins, which I already give all of my cats? Secondly, roughly how much does the T-Cyte treatment cost per shot, ballpark?  Appreciate any responses.

Greetings to everyone . It's been a year since we are on the regular inspection discovered that our cat IS  fiv \ FeLV positive. After 4 injections ZYLEXIS (every 2 days), our cat was FeLV negative but still FIV positive. 15 days after treatment ZYLEXIS , we started with LTCI therapy. So far received 5 injections. Gingivitis is gone, received twice as much weight. I bought Ltcy directly from the manufacturer, 10 injections cost me $ 450 . By advide from very experienced veterinary we are completely  change the diet. Dry food obtained in small quantities, for reasons of hygiene of oral cavity. Meals are based on fresh meat (chicken, beef, pork and twice a week chicken livers) .

Hi S suzie looo ,
Did your kitties take RetorMad1 med? Could you provide further info if you know anything about it? Thx!

Btw, I'm new here. I have a cat tested +ve FELV :(. Her name is 'Peah'.. and I'm worried my other cats have it too. The test kit is limited and out of stock at my vet's clinic so have to wait before my other kitties can be tested. In addition my vet wld like to run again the test on Peah in case the earlier test is 'false positive'. Is 'false positive' possible? Any of your kitties experience this before?

Hi,

do you still want info in Retromad. I know your post was last year but i have not been online for quite a while

warmest regards
