With IBD kitties sometimes the bile or acid is built up and trying to push out the bowels will bring up any little bit that's in there. have either of you tried giving 1/4 of a 10 mg. pepcid A/C to help with this? The vet should be able to tell you if it's okay for your kitty.

Yes, I have given my IBD cat Pepcid in the past during his phases of constant vomiting (daily) before it was under control. The current combination of a better diet and immune support and digestive supplements has proved more helpful for my cat that continued use of the Pepcid. However, it would use it again if he had another bout of recurring vomiting.

You can also try slippery elm bark powder and if your kitty is a little constipated try some canned pumpkin.

I'm so glad to hear he's doing better.

Its interesting that he vomited twice in the litter box. Have you noticed if he did this right after a bowel movement? My IBD kitty will sometimes vomit a little clear liquid or foam after a bowel movement. Since everything is connected, the contractions of his bowel movement sometimes upset his stomach and produce a vomiting response. Cats with intestinal track and/or digestive issues can have "flare ups" where they'll seem fine for awhile and then all of a sudden act "sick" (not eating, vomiting, etc.). As your kitty ages, he may start to develop sensitivities (more than one, unfortunately) that he did not have before. It may be helpful to keep a log of what he eats and his behaviors. Sometimes it can reveal a pattern or timeframe.

Thanks! And yes, it was immediately after his bowel movement. We pretty much stopped the force feeding now as he seems to be eating and drinking on his own again although we aren't sure exactly how much he is eating (he has always been a finicky eater) so we are watching that closely. Otherwise id say he is doing pretty well

Good! Glad to hear this because fatty liver is always an issue with a kitty that isn't eating.

Im a little concerned again...He has been eating like normal but just now he had a bowel movement and immediately after he got out of the box he threw up the food he had just ate. His bowels looks normal and the vomit was clearly what he just ate....

The recurring vomiting is concerning. I'm wondering if this is some form of IBS/IBD. Did the vet mention that possibility at all? I understand it is difficult to diagnose.

It would most likely be IBD and not IBS. Irritable bowel syndrome is rare in cats and is easily controlled with diet. It's also not likely to cause vomiting like that. I would think about bringing him to a specialist or all cat vet practice and get something for that vomiting before things spiral out of control. Cerenia is good for nausea and vomiting and will help with any inflammation. He needs an ultrasound to see what's going on with his bowels. He could even have megacolon.

Figured I would give an update as to how my cat was doing. About a week ago we noticed the thing on his toe was back and bigger than last time so we brought him in again and they said its likely a non cancerous tumor but they need to amputate his toe :(. They are doing the operation today and think it should be fine, I am a little worried about the anesthesia since he is old they said theres a chance he could not come back after he goes under. I will post an update later after I find out how it went.

Sometimes they act weird and vocalize oddly because they are still high from the drugs given during surgery.  Did they send him on any pain medications?  A lot of cats will vocalize when on opioids like buprenex (buprenorphine) or fentanyl.
