First welcome to The Cat Site. I am sorry your first post had to be a problem with your cat. I know you say there is no vet for cats where you live. The problem your cat is having not likely is going to go away without some medicine. Cats get urinary tract infections just like people. Also, they can get crystals which sometimes totally block them. If that happens a cat will die without surgery. The blood you see can be a sign of a serious problem I am sorry to be so blunt, but your cat may be in serious trouble without a vet's care. I have had two male cats with urinary issues. There was no treatment I could do my self for them at home. Please try to get your cat to a doctor as soon as possible. It could save her life.

I too am sorry to hear your cat is having this problem. Like blueyedgirl, I too have had this issue w/ my cat. She is right. Vet care is the only thing that will help.  She may need anti-biotics, pain meds, & special food. She may even need fluids given on a regular basis to flush the bladder out, if there are crystals. I have had to do this w/ Angel. I don't know where you are, but there must me someone there to help. ANY Vet? even if not specific to cats, will be better than none. Please ask around, or do an on line search your area, or areas close by for someone.

I wish you the best of luck, & will say a prayer that you find someone who can really help.
She needs to see someone ASAP.

You can also check out the yahoo FIUTD group for more info & help/advice, but again she needs a vet.

In the meanwhile, mix filtered water in with her food to get more water in her. I mix Angel's to a runny oatmeal consistency. It's important that she also only eat wet food. Dry can be a culprit, or make it worse.

Do Not use anything w/ cranberry in it, even if made for cats. It can be toxic. You can search other threads about it on this site.

Hi Puchuku,

Sorry your kitty is not feeling well.

You refer to Chinni as a "she." I just wanted to verify Chinni is a female. If Chinni is male, the situation is more urgent and you need to seek veterinary help right away (NOW--find an emergency vet). If Chinni is a female and she is still able to pee, there is a little more time, but you still need professional veterinary services and soon. My cat had the exact same symptoms last year. It sounds like a urinary tract infection (UTI). If a UTI is left unattended for too long, urine and bacteria can find its way into the body and damage organs like the kidneys.

UTIs can include bacterial infection but also the formation of a stone in the urinary tract which needs surgical removal. Sometimes the stone can be dissolved via diet, but all of this needs to be diagnosed via urine and blood tests, x-rays and ultrasound. When you go the vet may say that you can try getting a urine and blood test only, but since you don't live very close to a vet, I would recommend getting all the diagnostic tests. UTIs can require several trips to the vet for diagnostic testing if you don't do them all at once.

The previous posters have given some good advice, I would follow it, especially dry vs. wet food and WATER/hydration.

Good luck with your kitty and let us know how she is doing.

Good advice on getting all the diagnostic testing possible!!  It will save some trips back. There will always be follow ups, to determine how she is doing, & what to do next & continue, but yes, initially, it's best to just go ahead & get them all done to determine the best way to treat, depending on what is found.  This way, nothing gets overlooked as well.

Keep us posted.

Thanks to all my friends for giving time and suggestions....as I told the place where I live is difficult to find any VET for Cat...I feel now she is doing fine ...as from yesterday her peeing nature is quite close to normal ...I read somewhere that female cat periods happens once in a year or half and continue for 14 to 21 days...is it so ...all that happen with Chinni is related to this cycle ....though she experienced all this for 5 days...seeing her in trouble really put me in trouble mentally so visited this website to find out any solution and to clear my doubts ...Chinni is female and very selective in deciding what to eat and what to do ...Thanks to God that she herself had water ...though was not willing to eat ..only fish or chicken ..which I provided in a bit less amount ...thanks to Raintyger, Angles Mommy, blueyedgirl and Admin ...

That's good to hear. I really hope she is o.k.  If there are UTI issues, it's best to stay away fro fish. Most do not feed fish anyway, because of concern over minerals, which in turn circles back to UTI stuff.

Just FYI.
