How often do you go to the library ? Do you just go to use the computers ? Do you take your kids/grandkids to the children's programs ? How many books do you get out at one time to read ? Is your library within walking distance ?

I use to live within walking distance but we had moved where there is no library near us. I miss going there everyday to get on the computers. Yes I have a home laptop but Ii like to get out and see what's new at the library.I love to go and find a quite place to read or visit a library worker I know named Tina.

Used to live 3 blocks.  I am still very close at this house but have not gone in a few years.  I would go weekly and have books ordered from other branches as local library was tiny.  I am going to the main branch from where I used to live next week as they have books for sale and it is a HUGE selection

I can walk to the library from work and sometimes will walk over there during my lunch break; it's just a little over a mile away. I take a bag with me and I'll take out 7-8 books at a time and haul them back to the office. (The librarians there know that I'm a fast reader; often if there's a really good book out and it's on Reserve for other people, they'll let me take it out for a day. I get it read and get it back there the next day. Shhhhhh, they're not supposed to do that. So even if I'm way down on the list, they'll call me and say the book is in....I can have it, if I get it back right away. And I always do.)

My Nook has me spoiled though. I really like the convenience of getting online at 2:00 in the morning, going to the ebooks site and checking out something to read!
I'm never without my books that I'm allowed to download at one time; there are always five library ebooks on my Nook.

I do go to the library. I used to check out books to read, because I had so much down time at work. "Now I have even more time!"

I created a book list. I was looking at a lot of books on amazon, & any that sounded good to me, I wrote down to see if the library had it.

It was agood way to create a list, because of how it does the "If you like this, you will like this." or, "people who bought this, also bought this.."

(why pay for something I'm going to read once!)
So after I had a good list together, I typed it up, & printed it out. I just mark them off my list after I've read them!  Of course, the library doesn't have all of them, ones that I'd really like, but most!

Just fiction. It's nice to get lost in a story. I think I had enough of "information/educational" type books, from when I was a buyer at the local co-op.

I just want easy, enjoyable light books.
Through my list, I've learned that I like certain authors. (Karen White, Kate Morton, Donna Ball, etc..)

I have two libraries close by, but not close enough to walk. one is 5-6 miles away, & the one downtown is 3-4 miles away.

I just finished the first book in a 3 book series. "A year on Ladybug farm." by Donna Ball. I'm picking up the second book this weekend!

Sometimes when I have to wait for a new book  to come in at the library and I'm number 234 to get it I go to  a book store and buy it.  And with the old ones of a Stephen  King  book I look at a yard sale or flea markets, library book sales ( 1.00 a bag) or I will go to a used book store and pay about 5.00 for a book I just have to have. It has to be in excellent condition or I pass. I like hard back books better.

A coincidence, I just got back from the library.  It's about 3 miles away so I drive.  I usually take out 3 books at a time, some paper backs but mostly hard cover.  I had one at home which I haven't finished reading yet and now 3 more so I should be good for awhile.

Our library has two floors, downstairs are the kids books so I never go there, I get straight on the elevator to the 2nd floor.  I stopped buying books cuz I just had nowhere to keep them so the library works for me.

I have an XL page where I keep all the books that I have read and take a printed copy with me to the library.

Wow, when I was a kid I spend SO much time in libraries. I loved every single thing about them. But it's been years since I've gone. . .I can get pretty much everything online :(.

If I'm running low on data for my phone, I'll sit in the library parking lot and use their wifi, though :D.

I don't know if this is true in other states, but in Pennsylvania, if you have an "Access Pennsylvania" sticker on your library card (I do), if your local library doesn't have some of the books you want, they will try to get them from other libraries throughout the state.

I like the Gaslight series from Victoria Thompson and my local library didn't have all of the books in the series. They went to other libraries (and not close ones either) and found the books I was seeking. The books would come in, the library would call me and I'd go in and pick them up. Read them and take them back. They each had a band around the front cover that said what library the book was from....I couldn't remove that band.

It's a nice way to be able to read the books that your library doesn't carry.

When I order any DVDS or books they will order them from other local libraries or out of state for me and it would take a long time too come in. But then by hat time I find it another library that came back. We are allowed 99 items out on 1 card at anytime.

Pam, you are correct. (I work in a library in PA.)  Many libraries across the USA also offer inter-library loan--a similar idea, but just limited to their own state.

Oh, yeah, when I went to the library so much, I'd get interlibrary loan books all the time. I think it may have been only in-state, but I don't remember for sure. The local library mails books all over the country, though (I work at the Post Office and see what they mail), and receives them from all over as well. Libraries get special mail rates.

March 4th-9th our library offers food for fees. You bring 1 can for each 1.00 off your fees for the food pantry. I have put 19.99 on my granddaughters card so I'm handing over food to get it off her card.

Today we went to the library to give them 40.00 of can goods ( tooth paste, soap etc...) to have 3 library cards of fees swiped clear. I'm glad to help those in need and it helps me too cause those fees have been on there for awhile now.

I finally got the last library card fees down to 4.09 which was my brothers cause I'm the one who put the fees on it anyway. Today is the last day for cans for fees. So if you can do this to bring down your fees and help the food pantry please do so.dejolane
