Bodie our new to us 13.5 lb male Orange tabby gets a scoop/ 2 ounces of "Taste of the Wild" dry both morning and night.  He also gets 6 oz. of wet every evening.  He use to gobble down the dry when he lived with 9 other cats in his previous home because of the other cats.  Now he just nibbles on the dry thougout the day.  But he also ways begs for the wet when 5 comes around.   Is this enough for him or is he going hungry.  He sleeps most of the day when he is not outside.  He hunts around the house for about two hours a night.

Awww...he's cute.The kids aren't bad either
. I love orange tabbies. I think that is plenty for him to eat. He looks like a healthy weight in his pic.

Since he's not eating much of the dry, maybe you could split his canned portion between morning and night so he's not quite as hungry when 5 rolls around? If he seems at a healthy weight now, and he's not gaining or losing weight, it's probably enough. You could try feeding a bit more canned and see how that goes. Which canned food are you feeding?

What a beauty! I'd proportion his wet to 2 feedings a day and his kibble to 3 feedings daily in between the we feedings... if possible. Or, I'd just try to transition him off of dry altogether and feed him wet twice a day. Mine eat Natural Choice Indoor wet and Max Cat wet along with other brands. Their diet is about 90% wet to 10% dry now. I have a timed feeder and their kibble is dispensed 3x a day inbetween the main wet meals.

Your kitty looks fine in the pick and is probably eating enough. I'd just split the wet up into 2 meals. If he starts putting on pounds and eating a lot of kibble I'd for sure transition him off the kibble. It sounds like he would be easy to transition off kibble where some cats are so hard to do

We usually will buy grain free wet food, like Wellness, or Taste ofthe Wild.  He seems to like most wet brands but does not seme to like anything with Tuna much.  In fact when I gave im a small nibble of salmon he did not want that eitherbut loves chicken?

Thats fine. It's better not to feed much fish, especially for males. I avoid Tuna because of the mercury.

I know about the mercury and there cats small livers so it can be a issue.  But why should males be feed less fish than a female?

Fish is higher in magnesium and can contribute to crystals in the urine. Males have more narrow urethras which makes them more prone to a serious blockage.

I agree with the 2 split wet meals. My orange tabby male is aprox same weight as yours (a bit heavier) he and his 10lb sis each get 3 oz wet in am, 1/4 cup evo dry between the 2 during the day and 3oz more wet in pm. ATM they are on natural balance with a wellness turkey and salmon once a week for a treat. No tuna ever. I am terrified of my male getting crystals. Had a boy die on me once due to it many years ago. Now I try and keep as little dry around as possible and have water fountains for them all over the house.
