I guess she's a DMH of some kind.  She arrived at our animal shelter from an apartment where she'd been abandoned.  She's put on some weight since I first got her, but one thing's for sure:  How Now is a very brown cat!

Looks like a chocolate & white semi-longhair - a DLH.  That fluffy tail is a bt of a give-away.

Very unusual to find chocolate in domestics but I've no doubt about your cat.

Very unusual, very attractive, hope the personality is as well!

That tail! Wow!

She looks like she'll need grooming; one of those kitty combs should do... You don't want that gorgeous fur to get matted!

Love the face. That particular pattern is quite unusual. Usually there's either more white or less, but she just has the white nose. How cute!

She thanks everyone for the nice comments!  I have to wonder about her previous home because she was cordial but aloof with me at first, and absolutely furious if she saw any other cats.  But one year later, she loves to hop in my lap for hugs and petting, and she's made friends with my entire ark of pets.

After her first round of mats required a shave, I've learned my lesson and she gets regular brushing.

Thank you very much for the identification!

Longhair cats usually need combing rather than brushing, unless you are using a slicker brush.  It's especially important in spring as they shed their winter coat.

I've never seen a cat that color before either, unless you consider sun bleaching to cats that have black fur.

'new' colors of cats are somewhat common now, as breeders explore color genetics.  she looks more like 'cinnamon' to me than chocolate.

Guess she could be - it's hard to be sure without actually seeing the cat - but I have seen a lovely chestnut brown chocolate.  If she has any pads that aren't pink that would help be sure.

She isn't a bleached black as the colour is far too even.

What a gorgeous color!  And she looks like she has a personality that stands out, too.

It does look like she could be a cinnamon. But then again I'm used to seeing darker chocolates and am not an expert with choco/cinnamon.

~Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful ~ looks as tho she dipped her nose in milk.

With long hair like that, combing is needed.  My husband has a ritual EVERY morning where he combs our cat who will sit at the bottom of our bed and wait to be combed.   Our cat was always a bit skidish at times, but this combing ritual has brought these two closer together.  Nothing special, it's just an old black comb that is used for our cat only.  Every so often, I comb our cat with a flea comb - moreso as it gets a little bit deeper and avoids the fur getting matted.  But regular combing daily will most likely avoid matting and if matting does occur, will be detected early enough to unmat the fur.

 Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful ! ! !
