Hello

Vaccinations are something most pet owners should consider right? I am not sure what should be the right procedure here.

1 vet 3 vaccinations, then 3 boosters per year.

1 vet 1 vaccination, then 1 booster per year.

1 vet 2 vaccinations, then 1 booster per year.

In 2009 (i think) I spent loads of money getting my cats their first vaccinations, however this is where it gets all complicated. My cats only had 1 vaccination I believe all at once. other vets refuse to do the boosters due to some policy about vaccinations from other vets or something, no idea what but both said the same sort of thing.

What I want to know how many vaccinations should you have, how many boosters are you meant to have. Also what where the vaccinations for?

Generally, the first (core) shots are for feline distemper, feline calci virus, feline herpes virus and rabies.  After that, depending on the cat's lifestyle, are vaccs for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), feline leukemia virus, Bordetella, and Chylamydophilia virus.

As for how many and what kind of vaccs are needed in your area, your vet should be able to tell you.  Some states require rabies shots yearly, some every 3 years.
