I absolutely adore my cat Phyllis (pic attached). She's 3 years old and in a home of only one cat - her. I'm devastated because I'm looking for a new home for her. I am recently divorced and will have unstable living arrangements for the future and won't be able to keep her. She absolutely loves me - follows me around the house, purrs on my chest - and the feeling is mutual, which is why this is so hard. She has some major behavioral issues with people other than me. It seems like she only loves me. She is a generally anxious kitty, scared of people and loud noises, but she's also territorially aggressive with people. I want her to have a good long life and she's currently very anxious and nervous and unhappy with my living situation. She hisses and spits and cackles at people who come into my room. She also has some issues with fear-aggression if she feels trapped.

I know that taking her to a normal shelter would mean the end of her life and I've been trying for months to find a no-kill shelter with people who will give her love and support as she relearns how to behave. I want what's best for her and am now looking outside state lines (I would travel anywhere to know she'd be with the best people so that she could be adopted). I currently live in Denver, CO, but again, would do anything for her. She has so much love to give and I have hope that she could find a new home where she could be happy - sadly, it's not with me. Looking for support and options for my dear kitty.

Could you maybe try to find a foster family to take her temporarily until your arrangements are more stable? It sounds like Phyllis is very attached to you (and you to her), and it would be hard for her to adjust. It also sounds like it would be best for her to be the only cat, so it would be doubly difficult to find a home for her since most cat lovers already have cats. But if it's temporary, a foster family might have a room where she could be isolated from other cats temporarily?

Best wishes for both you and Phyllis on finding better living arrangements.

Dear Phyllismom...So sorry to read this, you must have enough going on, without having to part with such a lovely cat. I am trying to trap a semi-feral, Bunny, in Fort Lauderdale, and if he were not so adverse to anyone/thing but me, it's tempting...Have you thought of contacting a local "pet care" business/day care, and ask if they will give Phyllis a home gratis OR at a low monthly rate, until you get settled, or can find a home for her? My parent is very active in a local Seniors group, and they have many postings in their newsletter (NY). You may want to call the Denver Chamber of Commerce to inquire of any organizations geared toward 65+, many of my mother's friends adopt pets to keep as good buddies, and are not hung up on "breeds" or perfect behavior (my mom's dog, Jake, still tries to bite me when I visit????). I wish you all the best and to a new beginning, it gets much better:) Bunnysmom.

I'm sure we are to far for you and she might not like being around a another cat.Its was a thought.Ours seem to miss her buddy a lot even if he only got to be here for such a small time.

That's a beautiful cat, and sounds very friendly as well. I second the idea of trying to find a foster or a group that could hold her for you temporarily. If you really must rehome her it might not be too difficult because a lot of people are looking for those longer haired "maine coon" type cats. You could post her online, such as through a local rescue group on petfinder.org and on your own on rescueme.org . I hope you can somehow get stabilized and things work out with you and her. Good luck.

I talked to my husband about her do you think she could handle another female cat.We have a place for her but you know her better. We have grandchildren but they aren't here a lot.just the two of us and our Calli Blue. She hides for a while when we have company but she comes out after they are here for a while. She looks just like our male who pass but he was not suppose to live for 7 and half months but he made it than long because we took good care of him so she was us to having another cat here and she was good after two days

Hi Helen! Please feel free to start a thread in our Health Forum on your new kitten. There are many members who are dealing or have dealt with Ringworm. You will be able to get much support, advice and suggestions on the subject in that forum. http://www.thecatsite.com/f/4/cat-health The "start a thread" box is to the right of the "post a reply" box.

Mega, mega vibes for both of your kitties. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
