Are you one of those neat freaks that has to clean 24/7 ? Or do you let you house go a few days knowing that noone will visit till then ?   Do you hid your laundry when people visit.? Throw things in a closet ?

I ''pick up'' once a day. I do make sure my dishes are done as I use them I don't want any little visitors hanging around. I have a nice little apartment and this one will stay clean.

Dishes are washed several times a day, and the litter box is also cleaned that often. I try to sweep the kitchen floor every day but realistically it's about 4 times a week. I clean the kitty's water fountain every day and we are in the habit of putting things away (I can't think straight with clutter around).

Every Sunday, our daughter cleans the bathroom (she's gotten really good at it!) and my husband vacuums the carpets and sofa and dusts the house. When he's away on business, daughter takes over the vacuuming and nobody dusts.

If you visit on a Friday, the house won't be nearly as clean as coming by on a Monday.

My peripheral vision is terrible up and down (sides I can see okay) so we can't have stuff on the floor. I won't see it and will trip over it so everyone pays attention to that.

Teen daughter's room is completely different, and is often a huge mess, but it's her space. Once, when her room was really bad, I walked in to tell her something and it was so chaotic in there I immediately forgot what I was going to say, lol.

I used to have a regular cleaning day years back - say Saturday's. Now I clean and keep things up almost everyday. Meaning, I might dust one day, vacuum another, wash floors another, etc. etc. Seems everyday I am doing some sort of cleaning rather than doing it all on one day.

SwampWitch, one day I walked into DS's room and it was a complete disaster area. I told him it had to be cleaned before he could do anything at all that day. About an hour or so later, he came out and said his room was done. Great. Until I went back to hang fresh laundry in his closet. I opened the door and......I swear it was like a cartoon. All this stuff came tumbling out of that closet! He gets it from his father; my MIL told me that Rick's room was so bad that she would simply shut the door so she didn't have to even look at it.

We do the major cleaning over the weekend, but I'm to the point where I pretty much vacuum every night. While Rick is working on bills and such in the computer room on Saturday mornings, I clean the kitchen and bathroom before we run our errands. Then usually Sat afternoons we vacuum, dust, do the floors, and work on laundry. I change the bed linens every Sunday morning.

While I'm not really a neat freak, I do like to have everything tidy and organized.

I have small kids; cleaning house is a never ending process here.  I'm not a neat freak at all but I don't care to live in a pig-sty either.  I'm itching to do a good deep spring cleaning; but that will require a babysitter taking the kids out of the house for a day or more!

I'm not a neat freak, but try to keep it looking ok. Use the swiffer on the tile floors, just have carpeting in the bedrooms. Of course carpeting the builder put down (12 1/2 yrs ago) is far from the best, even though we upgraded, but I just don't want to invest in carpeting. I love our tile floors, but if I had it to do over again I'd probably think about wood floors. Usually do the bathroom cleaning on Saturday morning, change linens, etc. No set schedule,so I kind of do things when I feel like it, but I always need to do it early in the morning. If I wait til later it doesn't get done. WE were home all day today so I did two loads of laundy (one of towels, bath mat), and just swiffered the floors. Had hoped to do more, but I got kind of lazy,

I am not a fanatic when it comes to house cleaning.  I clean when I need too, dusting and vacuuming whenever it needs to be done.  My home is neat tho, no clothes around the house at all.  The only thing out of place and scattered all over the carpets is Autumn's toys until they disappear under the bed probably.  My house is clean enough for unexpected company, it's never dirty.  Everything is always in it's place so I can find anything at a moments notice.

I used to clean every single day.  But due to health issues, I can't clean as often as I would like, and it drives me crazy.  I need to find another cleaning person to help me keep up with the heavy things like the bathroom, vacuuming and the floors.  By the time I finish the vacuuming, I'm too done in to do the floors, and same with the bathroom. And I'm too tired when I get home from work during the week that I don't have the physical capacity to do any cleaning, so it is left for the weekend.

I can't stand clutter, plus, if anything is left on the floor, the cats will get into it. And of course, with this many cats, I do a lot of general cleaning. But heavy-duty, move-the-couch kind of cleaning? Ooh, not very often! :emba:

I clean most of the house every day, and do every room on Thrusday and Friday nights.

When I get home each day, I:

1.  Sweep the stairs (cat tussles must take place there, if the fur is any indication!)

2.  Dust, then vacuum the downstairs, and sweep the laminate flooring and kitchen.

3.  Sweep the foyer.

4.  Sweep the garage (that's the Kitty Litter Palace, and there's always scatter)

5.  Load/unload the dishwasher.

6.  Three times a week: laundry.

7.  Tidy up.

8.  Wipe the kitchen down (counters, appliances, stove, etc.)

9.  Check the other rooms to see if cleaning is needed, and do so.

10. Twice daily, change the 1 indoor litter box, then scrub the dirty ones out, and dry and line them.  I also scoop the garage ones at least once a day, and empty, scrub, etc. any nasty ones.  The main cleaning takes place on Sunday morning, with DH's help.

Know what my biggest cleaning job is? CAT FUR remediation!  We don't have much dust, but, boy, is there fur on the rugs downstairs. We have 9 cats; 2 are Maine Coons.

On Thursday and Friday, I repeat the above, with the addition of floor mopping. (I sometimes mop in-between those days, as well, especially in the kitchen.)

I'm a neat freak!. Friends say it's always like a show house when they come over

I always tidy up after i've used things, the cushions are fluffed up before l go to bed and again when l leave the house for work.

I swiff every day because of the cat hairs, but every Thursday afternoon l dust and vacuum

Since I'm up early to walk anyway, after I'm done on the treadmill, I mosey about the house, straightening pillows on the couch, making the bed (when the cats are in it), check the litter boxes, give the cats their second breakfast, just general clean-up stuff. Then when Rick leaves for work, I'll jump in the shower quick and get ready to go to work myself. It gets on Rick's nerves, though, and he always tells me to just stop. He has his little routine in the morning and when I'm up and about at the same time, he says I screw up his routine. And it's true.....I probably do, although I really don't mean to. I just like to come home to a house that's fairly tidy and not all messed up.

Maybe I'm more of a neat freak than I let on. I asked dear Richard about this thread and he said that I'm definitely a neat freak!

Don't feel bad--I don't know anyone who does that more than a few times a year!  Back when people had coal stoves, heavy draperies, etc., they used to. If you ever read any housekeeping books up until the mid-20th century, they recommend doing this stuff at least once a week!  Nowadays, we don't need to do heavy cleaning as often.  We don't need to wash our walls every week, as there's no soot from coal or wood stoves/fireplaces that are going 24/7.  We're more likely to open windows to let fresh air in, and we don't tend to have layers of heavy curtains all over the place to catch dust.  Whenever I see a photo of a late 19th century house interior, it makes me queasy--all that clutter, fringe, drapery (even on the mantel!) and darkness. All I can think of is all of the dust! Yuck.

When I did 1860's reenacting, people always thought I'd just adore the furnishings from that time period, and were surprised to find out that I loathed them--but loved the clothing. I have no Victorian furniture in my house.

I do the big, do everything cleaning once a week. It's usually not to bad, sense it's just me & Angel. Now that I'm recently unemployed & am going to try to clean houses for cash, I timed myself

yesterday when I did my place. It took me 2 & 1/2 hrs to clean my 2 bedroom, one bath, living room & kitchen. I did everything! I started in the bathroom, then did both rooms dusting everything, etc..

then same in the living room, & finally the kitchen, taking everything off the counter to clean, etc..  vacuumed & moped last, as well as take the trash out.

I sometimes will vacuum an additional time during the week, but I have a shoes off at the door policy, so it's never bad. Sweeping is done a few times a day, because of the litter box. (& that's scooped after each use)  The little rugs outside the box help, but there's always some trail. OH, and I do make my bed every day. It just makes a difference in things looking & feeling neat. (Dishes too).
