Now that Nimbus has gotten over his respiratory infection, he looks so much better than he did when I brought him home from the shelter! Little does he know, that means he will be getting neutered soon though...poor guy :(

That's excellent news

He'll be fine being neutered... won't even miss them...

How old is he?

Hahaha the vet told us he's between 2 and 3 years old, probably closer to 2

I'm suprised they didn't neuter him before he was adopted out.  Did you foster him when he had his respiratory infection?  It's unusual to adopt an entire cat from a shelter.

At my shelter back home they won't adopt out animals unless they're neutered, but at the one up here they will send them home with a voucher to get it done.  I guess it just depends on the shelter.

Very handsome boy!

It depends on the shelter. The shelter that I pulled Penelope and Delilah from with their mom, the only thing they do for the animals before they leave is give them a rabies shot. They adopt out sick, pregnant, malnourished as long as they are leaving the shelter they can go. They are very high kill though, and the adoption fee is only $35. The shelter here though the animals get s/n and rabies, before they leave.

He's gorgeous! Is that fur as soft as it looks, or is it more silky?

Don't worry about the neutering. He'll be groggy and sore, but he'll be fine. It's quite a minor surgery; they bounce back nicely.

Just to update everyone, Nimbus had his surgery today. It was really hard leaving him, I cried all the way home :( I know they say neutering isn't a big deal but just leaving him behind like that was so hard! But I'm happy to say he did great and was so happy to see me when I picked him up! :) Thanks everyone!

Glad to hear it...

I know it sounds odd, but he'll be a happier boy for it.. not driven by his boy hormones anywhere near as much.

Give him a hug from me... (his silky coat in your avatar looks just like my boy's).
