Good day to everyone!! :)

WATER, WATER!!! For the last few days I have been trying to drink more water. It is not easy for me and does not come naturally to me. :lol3: I have to keep reminding myself. I heard that we all should be drinking about 1/2 our weight in ounces of water. So if you weigh, let's say, 150 pounds, then you should be drinking 75 ounces of water! And, I also wonder, Does coffee count as water, I mean, really, is it not all water??? :lol3: One can hope.

Do you drink enough water everyday? Do you have to remind yourself to drink water? Tap water or bottled water? Or both? (I drink both) And, do you think coffee should count towards your daily water intake?

No and it drives husband up a wall.  Se I consider soda, beer and iced tea water.  He is ALWAYS on me to drink more but in a loving way so can't argue him to much.  I go days before drinking water.  When I drink it I don't care what kind it is as long as it is room temp or warmer.

Yeah, I have to remind myself constantly to drink water. I wish I could get into the habit of just having a glass of water around and drinking all the time. I forget....and I do drink alot of coffee, but I don't think that counts. :D

Yes, I drink about 60 oz. of water a day.  I have a mug of coffee in the morning and a soft drink once a week or so. I don't have to remind myself to drink it. The more water I drink, the fewer kidney stones occur.

I drink mostly bottled water.

IMO, Coffee should be counted at half the volume, the diuretics in it reduce the water level in the body.

I hate water and never drink it.  I do drink liquids but never plain water, it actually upsets my stomach.

Over the river and through the woods...
I drink a ton of water at work during the week. I have a 32 oz bottle at work that gets refilled at least 4 times a day. Of course that also means a lot of potty breaks. Tap water doesn't bother me...and its free which is even better. Of course, I grew up on city water so I don't really taste the chemicals. DH can't stand city water or pump water (what we have at home) so he's a strictly bottled water person.

Now, the weekends are a different story. Then my drink of choice is beer. And, of course, I MUST have my coffee in the mornings. Soda, I only drink one every few months.

It was a lot easier to drink enough water when living in a hot climate! Here's it's so cool I have to remind myself.  I LOVE sparkling water but try to drink half regular and half sparkling during the day. (Imo drinking distilled water is not great - especially if someone drinks only distilled water - since it doesn't have trace minerals in it.) I think all liquids count, except for the diuretics like coffee, as catspaw66 pointed out.

I try for about 80 ounces a day, and I'm usually pretty good about it, but lately I've been forgetting. Which is bad because my skin gets dry if I don't drink enough in the winter. I drink "bottled" water (not bottled, but from the RO dispenser at the grocery store--only 37 cents a gallon). I'll also have tap water with lemon juice added, but I added it up and the lemon juice actually costs more than the RO water! :lol3: But I prefer not to drink the tap water because the nitrates are really high, and that means there's a lot of nitrogen fertilizer that seeped into the ground water. Ick. Cold water hurts my teeth so I only drink room temp water, unless I'm super hot and need to cool off quickly.

I do count coffee but only up to 16 ounces. If I drink more coffee than that I have to drink more water to flush the caffeine out :tongue2:. I hardly ever drink anything else except iced tea in the summer.

I drink a fair amount of juice, coffee, milk and other assorted things. According to Dr Oz, as long as it's good for you, liquid is liquid except when it is full of sugar or artificial sweetners (read pop and fruit drinks). What water I drink is from the tap mostly but do buy the odd bottle of water for the long drive home from shopping.

I'm horrible about drinking plain water.  I can only drink it if its cold cold and I have to drink it fast.  I've been sick so I'm trying to drink more.  I have a small cup I've been refilling and downing every so often during the day.  I do better with juice; which I drink watered down to about 1/3-1/4 juice and the rest water.  DH does the same.  DH says other liquids don't count.  He drinks a ton of water because his job is active.  Especially in the summer.  Last summer he actually got sick from drinking too much one day.  Now he does watered down Gatorade for some of it.

I'm kind of glad to hear you say that; people look at me crazy when I tell them DD would throw up water when I'd give it to her when she was smaller!  She does ok with some now; but never drinks a lot.  Getting her to drink at all is an issue for us some days.

I drink a lot of water. More than most people...I'd say I average 3/4 of a gallon/day or more. I'm a high strung person so much of the water evaporates.

FWIW, coffee is considered fluid intake. As is soda, juice, and even popsicles!

I forget how old your daughter is (I know she's pretty little) but I had a hard time getting our daughter to drink enough when she was sick and had a fever. She'd get these really high fevers that would not go down with Tylenol or Advil, we had several midnight trips to the emergency room. To make her drink more liquids, I'd give her straws and that worked great! She'd suck down a bunch of water or juice if she had a straw. You can get paper straws now, too, if you are like me and want to limit the plastic-food contact.

When I am having a bout of severe nausea, water won't stay down, but Gatorade will.

GOOD point about the kidney stones. My mother suffers with those and her urologist demanded that she drink much more water than even 1/2 her weight in ounce.

:( bummer about the coffee. Guess I need to drink more water to offset the coffee. :lol3:

You sound like my sister. She can only drink distilled water with no ill effects.

I wonder if that is why my sister can only drink distilled water w/o getting nausea. It contains no minerals!

:lol3: I was going to complain about that in my orginal post on the subject - the potty breaks are a real bummer, especially if you are driving around that day. And, it actually made me wonder if I have a problem, a bladder problem :sulk: I wonder if that is why I don't want to drink as much water as I should. Seems my bladder can't handle the extra load. :nervous:

She just turned 3.  I think we've used every kind of cup under the sun for her. Right now it's straw cups.  It's like once I find a trick that works for her; it only works for so long!  Watermelon in the summer is one of my best ones!  She will of course go for stuff sweetend (say strawberry milk) but I'm not keen on the sugar or having her expect things to be sweet.  I even tried adding vanilla to almond milk; it was a no go.  Maybe I should find some swirly straws.  I just hate washing those!
