My cat is pregnant I think she is about 7 weeks along. She has started nesting behaviors. I was puttin away clean clothes today and she was trying to dig through my closet and drawers. I made her two boxes with plush old towels. Is it normal for her to be digging through the blankets and towels?? And is it normal that she is possibly urinating on them a bit ?

Yes, I think it is normal. Outside living cats do often dig a hole for them and kittens. In the earth, or in thick bushes.

Urinating a little is a way to mark it for themselves, setting on their own signum.   :)

Our Forumist Oriental Slave recommends fleece as better than the usual towels...

MoffaCat, perhaps best you do start your own tread?  Copy in your question and my answer, If you dont want to rewrite everyting.   :)

Yes, because little claws can get caught in the loops in towelling, and fleece is far easier to wash and dry that towels.

In my girls nesting box i have a layer of shredded paper, then on top of that a warm comfy fleece, and then two towels laid on top, but the towels are for the birthing process only and will be removed after.

We will let her clean and nurse for a short while, then picture and weigh each one before moving them to a separate box with a heating pad and cover during the birthing since my queen is a bit on the large side, and she tends to accidentally kick them.

Those fleece "Travelling blankets" from walmart or walgreens are great: small and lightweight enough to wash easy, but very warm, and extremely cheap compared to larger style blankets.

The urinating is extremely normal. She wants her babies born into a spot that smells like momma, and it probably makes her a little more comfortable too during a scary time, to not be overwhelmed by perfumes and cleaning detergents but to smell only her own smell.

You should grab maybe 4 or 5 cardboard boxes (you can get them free from stores during stocking hours) and set up several possible nesting areas, places that you've noticed her digging in or that are dark and quiet. She'll choose which she prefers when the time is right.

He's attempting to scruff her. I'm not letting him. He is being more vocal then usual (he's half Siamese) I am keeping Moffat in my room with me. I don't want to stress her the poor girl is 7 weeks along she needs peace and quiet

You need to keep them in separate rooms so he can't annoy her, and he isn't sterile immediately either.  Once she has her kittens she could get pregnant again very soon after, and he might still be capable then.

He could make her pregnant even though he was just FIXED?? :( as for eustache: he has calmed down and slept on my bed with me. When we woke up from our nap I let him out he was calmer and he went to groom her head :)

Yes it takes time to completely clear their system.  It's the same for human males.  He might be acting territorial because of just coming home and all; if her scent has changed from her pregnancy and things.  Hopefully he is over it!  Otherwise don't hesitate to hop over to the behavior section if you need to too!

So lately she urinated in one of the boxes and it smells BAD thank god it wasn't her main box but she has stopped going into her box too. She sleeps mostly all sprawled out on her side on the floor in the entrance or curled up in her cat tree way up high. She also still loves her cat carriage. 56 days gestation and doing great I even felt the kittens move

Does she like cold areas? Mossberg (Mossy) wouldn't get her big butt off of any cold spot she could find. kept stretching out on her side and kicking like little cat pilates. guess it felt good to stretch out those muscles. Beautiful girl.
