Did you watch the Oscars last night. We stayed up for the whole thing, for the first time in years. So glad Daniel Day Lewis won for Lincoln. Haven't seen the movie, but plan to - or will catch it on On Demand.

Pretty good show - at least we stayed up and that's saying something.

I always enjoy awards shows, for reasons I don't even understand.

I must be getting old though; I'm tired of the irreverent, industry-mocking tone of hosts. A little bit of that goes a long way, and it just seems too snarky anymore.  That opening bit was extremely tasteless; combine that with the bits about drugs, sexual orientation, etc...and it stops being funny or clever REALLY quick.

The fact that there was a 9 year old in the audience made it even more uncomfortable (for me, anyway).

Again, must be getting old.  These sort of things didn't faze me in the least until recently.

Yes I watch the Oscars every year and the first movie I will watch On Demand is Argo.  When Lincoln comes on I will watch that also.  I'd also like to see Flight with Denzel, I just love Denzel

yes we'll probably watch Argo when it is On Demand. We hate going to movies and would rather watch it in the comfort of our home.

Oh, one thing that I thought was in extremely bad taste last night. The comment about Lincoln, something to the effect of The only one who got to Lincoln's head was John Wilkes Booth. That completely shocked both Paul and me. Would they have said something like that about the assassination of John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King? One of our local TV stations anchors just commented on it today.

I kept switching back and forth between that and other things. A little bit of Seth MacFarlane goes a long way with me. He's tasteless and offensive, as anyone who's ever watched "Family Guy" will know.

It sort of fascinated me that they asked him to host, because everyone knows that tasteless and offensive is his M.O.

Some I liked, some I just said, "ew....bad' and channel-surfed.

I really wanted Lincoln to win Best Picture, and Steven Spielberg (my favorite director) to win Best Director, and Sally Field to win Best Supporting Actress, but my wants seem to have been ignored. :D
