Hi all,

Today my cat Midori and I had a scary experience.

We were laying on the couch with a brand new electric blanket, when all of a sudden she fell on her side. At first I thought she was just getting comfy, but when I went to move her back on my lap (she was hanging off the edge), I noticed she was stiff and she looked panicked. I frantically grabbed her and she twitched about twice before taking off running. When I finally found her 5 mins later, she was hiding underneath the bed. She came out of hiding a minute or 2 later and has acted completely fine.

I called an emergency vet who said that if she's eating, drinking, and acting fine then I could probably hold off on bringing her until tomorrow morning.

I'm not sure if it was a seizure, if she got a shock from the blanket, or what happened.

She's almost 5 years old and nothing like this has ever happened before.

Any ideas? Also, any ideas on what sort of tests the vet will do? Even though she seems completely fine, I plan on calling the vet first thing in the morning.

Hi!

I know witnessing a seizure can be a very scary experience. My kitty Bella (11 months) started having some weird episodes like a month ago. She drooled a lot and acted really weird afterwards. I took her to the vet and she told us that she probably had a hair ball in her tummy, but to keep an eye on her in case it was something more serious.
Like two weeks ago I found her on the floor staring into space, her whiskers and ears twitching. She was very stiff and she was drooling again. I recorded this episode and sent it to the vet. She said that it looked like a minor seizure. She suggested we took some tests to determine the cause of this, but at that moment I didn't have the money to do the lab work!
Today Bella had 2 seizures... Bad ones. She was convulsing on the floor, shaking, peeing all over... It was really sad and we were both really scared. I am taking her in to the vet first thing tomorrow. I will probably have to eat ramen noodles for the next two weeks... But Bella needs those tests done. And it would probably be a good idea if Midori
had some done too.
I wish I would have been able to take Bella
Babies in sooner. And I wish I could have avoided what happened today. I was terrified, couldn't help but cry because there was nothing I could do to make it stop. I really hope Midori doesn't get to this point and you both don't have to go through this.

My best wishes for you and Midori.
Keep us updated.
