Hi all, Joined this forum to share info about caring for my beasts and to learn more about the same.
Stats:
3 domestics including a male "blue"/white 17 year old, a female 17 yr. old mackerel tabby, a 7 year old large black med. hair (silky!), an unk. age (we think at least 17 years) white female cornish rex, a bi-color (well that blue/smokey and white color) male cornish rex and a female "tortie" sphynx that we think is about 12.
We also have a red/white female pit bull that is about two years. All one big happy family! They are all really wonderful pets and get along famously.
I especially adore cornish rexes. I get much joy from my male who never fails to make me laugh every day and likes to lay on my chest when I'm at my computer. Both cornies lay on/next to me every night when I go to bed. I've decided they are the perfect cat for me.
In other news, our 17 year old domestics are going through slow kidney failure. Lucky for me a (vet tech) friend taught me how to give ringers solution in the back to help hydrate them. I don't give the female fluids right now since she bounced back from her big scare and is doing great just eating K/D. The male is extra skinny but he's always been slim since we got him as a kitten. He is doing well but I give him fluid (100 ml) daily and a 1/4 tab of pepcid to calm his stomach.
I tried my hand at just giving him home cooked chicken and rice to help put weight on but once he tasted K/D from our female's supply he prefers it. I also give him canned Fancy Feast (classic chicken) which he eats with gusto. I wish I could put an extra pound or two on him.
