Hi i'm worried for the wee cat i have noticed over the last 2weeks it will nod his head constantly i'm worried for it's health. The wee cat will be around 8 or 9 months old. I moved in to my  house just under a year ago their was a colony already coming around the neighbours garden's on a daily basis. So i've seen this wee cat grow since day one & would leave some dry food out for it and his mother a few times a week. I just need to know what i can do to help the wee cat if possible??

I suspect this is a veterinar errand. Do you have access to one?  Phone and ask at least.

Has he been dewormed and deparasited?  Having mites in ears they usually shake their head, or scratch, not nod.  But perhaps?

Welcome to our Forums!

Good luck!

No we dont have access to one we live in a small village in the country side. I dont think the cat has been dewormed etc, I like to leave a bit food out for them when i can. I ill ask the neighbours about that as they all seem to care for the cats also. Will this problem go away or does the cat need some type of medication for these mites??

Thanks for your reply

Nay, if you think he has much mites (and most homeless have them more or less), something should be done.

Can you get near, perhaps pet him a little?

There is a spot on preparate, Revolution, which is very useful in such cases.  As long as you can come so near you can spot on a few droplets on his neck /behind the skull...   So he cant lick off it immediately.

Takes almost all parasites. Mites, fleas, most internal worms.  Almost the only one it doesnt takes is tape worm.

There may also be some other, similiar preparates (essentially another Firm or country name).

It depends also on which country you do live in.  They can be sold under different names in different countries. Or sold mostly in some countries, but not other...

Do always ask here, ask your vet, or google, if you arent sure on a preparate. Because there are also less safe preparates sold over the count.  Some may even be dangerous - they were perhaps made essentially for dogs.

Good luck!

ps.  Deworming / deparasiting of a outside living cat is never a bad idea, so putting on some Revolution on his neck is OK whatever you do.

But if it solves his problem with the nodding, I cant know - as said, it may very well be a vet errand.
