This car was a God send- after no transportation for 5 YEARS.

Mazda 626 LX 122K Miles, 2001

$1900 talked down from $2000

RUNS great- is beautiful inside outside has some cracks but nothing major!!!!!!

Now my question for you is What is one or two, or three items you consider essential in your car?

I have so far on my list:

Jumper Cables

First Aid Kit

Blanket

Bottled Water

Change of Clothes

Pens & Paper

Ice Scraper

Baby Wipes

Emergency Information Folder!

Congrats on the car! Looks great!

I gave up on bottled water and baby wipes, because they freeze in the winter and dry out/melt in the summer. I don't know if your weather is as extreme as it is here, though.

One thing I consider essential---scissors! It's a thing you always wish you had. Also a reflective triangle and/or flares. Paper towels/napkins. A flashlight. Tire pressure gauge. $10 cash for emergency gas. And make sure the jack is with the spare tire, that it didn't get removed at some point in the car's history.

I have an emergency kit in the car (blanket, reflective cones, tire gauge, etc), a chocolate bar in the winter (energy if you get stuck), a swiss army type knife, small wire dog crate that folds down (in case I have to catch something), a slip lead, small bag of liver treats and cellphone charger. I'm sure there's more in there but that's all I can remember, lol.

Congrats on the car! :) Mine has hair ties, pens, gum, napkins, knife, jack, extra cell phone charger, hoodie, and a bag for trash.

I probably should put some other emergency stuff into it. It came with 5 years free roadside assistance so I've never really thought about an emergency kit... never know when I may need one!

Cat carrier

Cat food/treats(inside the carrier other wise dogs get a feast when I run into Wawa!)

Water(the individual bottles, I pour out a bit so if it freezes it don't pop)

Waste bags for the dog park

Box to go to Aldi and some reusable bags for regular grocery

Blanket I have it laying for dogs to use in back seat but in emergency I can use

GPS

Baby wipes in a ziploc, if they dry out just add some water

Extra leash and chain collar

Knife(I walk some dead trails so always good to go)

Spare hoodie and during winter a warmer jacket

Paper towels

I love my truck!  Come black friday I pack that thing!!

Have AAA and used them a few times over the years. Got towed 2 times(Belt went on a turn on busy highway and brake line went) and battery issue fixed on spot.  For the price it is great for us.

I also have AAA.

I probably should keep more in it than I do. I think I have a box of tissues, ice scrapers, and reusable shopping bags in it right now.

Haha, yeah, I have a cat carrier, cat food, and a slip lead, but those aren't things I expect most people to have! :tongue2: And reusable grocery bags. A backpack with spare clothes. Winter things (snowpants, a face mask, extra gloves, etc.). Ice scraper/snow brush. Loud whistle. Tissue. A lint roller. Sun shades. A bag of kitty litter (for traction on ice).

There's no point having AAA here because the nearest AAA-contracted car guy is an hour away. I just have the local tow guy's number on my cell phone.

Jumper cables

First aid kit (with scissors, Willowy; I agree about needing scissors)

Ice scrapper/brush

Trash bag

If you have a cell phone, keep your auto charger in your glove compartment (Hannah has a USB port in the dash so that we can use our regular phone charger)

I keep a heavy furniture pad in the trunks of both of my vehicles...it helps to protect the trunk

I have a cargo net in Hannah's trunk for placing items that I don't want to spill over (gallon of milk, water jugs, etc.)

Rick keeps our GPS in the truck; Hannah has her own GPS

We each have a small jar of change in the glove compartment, about five dollars worth....you always need change for parking meters and the like

And yes, you need AAA

Congrats, Nebula!

I already have a cell charger

I have added paper towels & energy snacks (like granola bars etc to the list)

Also, How do you organize your things? I'm a bit of a neat freak when it comes to that type of stuff...

In addition to her glove compartment, Hannah has a large storage compartment between the front seats and my change jar in there, along with several CDs. Her trunk is a nice size and the floor of the trunk is covered by the furniture pad. Battery cables are just in the trunk in a plastic case. Case also has the first aid box (I got that from work years ago and have always kept it in all my cars).

You're all going to laugh at this......years and years (and years) ago, my sister and I went to a fortune teller in a nearby town. One thing she told us has always stuck with us: "Keep the 23rd Psalm in your glove compartment!" Now we know she probably told that to everybody, but that Psalm has been in the glove compartment of every car she and I have owned since that visit.

Consider it done. I call this my God car because it came from him!

The background story:

There is this lady at our church who had this Mazda to sell. She had several buyers fall through, no-show, etc. Finally, she called us and said she had a guy on their way to look at it and pay the full $2000 cash she was asking. Hubby & I were disappointed, but we told God that we were trusting him to open the right doors for the perfect car for us. About thirty minutes later, the lady calls back and says her guy who was coming broke down, and called and decided not to buy the car. Brooke (the lady we bought it from) was in desperate need of money to pay some needed medical expenses (she just had twin baby girls, her and her husband!) Anyway, she said she just prayed that God would provide- and that she strongly felt him telling her to sell us the car. So very quickly, we had the cash to pay $2000 for the car and went there Friday morning. Since the pictures were a bit misleading, she knocked $100 off for us to get the light fixed that is busted! Long story short, we got exactly what we prayed for. The perfect car for us, it isn't perfect- but is perfect for us. We needed a car to get us from Point A to Point B, to be in good condition, and good gas mileage. Done, done, and done! So I call it my God car, because for 5 years now I have been trusting in HIM to provide and he did!!

Hang in there!!!

Congratulations on the car. We have had a Mazda 626 in the past and it was a great car.

We don't keep all that much in the car. Flashlight, car manual, registration, insurance card, etc. We have plastic bins in the trunk to put groceries in when we go shopping.

No need here for ice scraper- thank goodness!
