New Friend for Luck ?

Just over a week ago we had to have my dear companion Toby put to sleep. His brother Lucky seems to be so sad and so lonely. Maybe it's just me, but he seems so wrong for him to be on his own wherever he is. So I'm begining to think about getting a new friend for him. He's never been alone, he and Toby were from the same litter.

Of course I know that I'm missing Toby too and wondering whether a new friend for Luck would help us all - is it too early ? Lucky is about 16 years old, I got his and Toby from a cat rescue (which I'd do this time) and he may be very set in his ways. I'd hate to upset him more.

Any advice ?

It is quite common for cats to grieve, especially for littermates. Getting a new cat may solve your anxiety, but it may increase Lucky's. Let him adjust to not having his friend before you add more stress to his life. Spend a lot of time with Lucky now, cuddle with him, talk to him and just let him know you understand. That would be my advice, your lonliness may just be projecting on to Lucky because you also miss Toby so.

I am sorry for your recent loss

Thanks Hissy, I know you're right. Not that Toby can be replaced EVER he was so wonderful, and so is Lucky, I guess I'm just trying to find a short-cut for us. Thanks.
