My dear sister Linda's family has had a toy poodle named Dollie for many years; she is a family dog but really adopted my sister as her main person. Dollie would not leave Linda's side for the almost two years as she battled melanoma. Linda was an animal-whisperer (among other amazing talents) and she always knew what Dollie was saying to her, and there is no doubt in anyone's mind that Dollie understands English!

After my sister passed away Sept. 2011, Dollie attached herself to my sister's husband and they have been constant companions since. In fact, Dollie gets very anxious if my BIL is not in sight and she spends 90% of her time on his lap.

Dollie was diagnosed with lymphoma a couple of weeks after my sister died. As you can guess, it's been a really difficult time for my BIL and his family.

I received news last night that Dollie is no longer eating, so her time to join Linda is drawing near. Dollie is such a sweetie, she loves the outside feral cats that my sister and her family had neutered and take care of (the cats love her, too, and give her head-butts). We always joked that Dollie is part cat, part human, and part dog.

She's always loved getting groomed and showing off her new ear-ribbons. She'd keep bugging you until you examined them and told her they look nice.
Dollie, August 2011

That's sad. Linda will surely be there to welcome Dollie. Lots of :vibes::vibes::vibes: that she crosses peacefully, and her family can deal with it.

Please accept my prayers for Dollie and her family, what a tragedy! Sometimes all we can do is pray. I hope little Dollie is pain free. I can't help but wonder if she wanted to be with Linda. So much grief in your family, I'm so sorry for your brother in law to have to go through all this, but I'm so glad he is there for her.I pray you'll all get through this, it's tragic for all of you to get this much heartache in so short of time, please accept my condolences.

Your post brought tears to my eyes and what a precious sweet doggie Dollie is.  I am sending best wishes to Dollie and her family.  If Dollie has to cross the Bridge she will at least be with Linda once again and of course the ones left behind always feel the pain.  This is so sad.

I just read where Dollie has crossed the Bridge, now she is at peace with her Mommy, bless them both.

So sorry for losing Dollie. But we just have to believe that they are now together and pain-free.

SwampWitch, how very sad - I am so sorry for the losses you and your BIL have had, with both your sis Linda and her beloved Dollie, what a true animal friend Dollie sounded like, very very special indeed.

Sympathies and prayers to all of you

I'm so sorry about Dollie. It sounds like she was an incredible dog and there's no doubt that she loved her mom and her family. She will be missed. She is safe in your sister's arms.

If I die before my Bella I will wait for her by the pearly gates so I can have a companion in heaven. She is my world and I love her so much.
