I know these are both poor choices in food but I am not the one paying for the cat food so I am wondering if Meow Mix canned food is better than Purina Pro Plan cat food?  Or the other way around?

What do you feed your cats and why?  Do you feed them crunchy food and wet food or just wet food?

I'm trying to find a cat food that is inexpensive but okay to feed the cats.  I have two female cats.

Wet food is better. Even cheap wet food usually has more meat in it than the pricier kibbles, and cats need to get moisture from their food anyway. But, I don't find Meow Mix wet food to be particularly inexpensive, and some flavors have added sugar, which obviously isn't good for a cat! I feed my cats canned Friskies, but only the paté flavors, because the shreds/chunks have wheat gluten.

My cats don't like patte.  We bought an expensive (good quality) brand and they really didn't like it, I'm assuming because of the texture.

Mine doesn't either UNLESS I mix it with some water and blend it well to make it gravy like. Then she LOVES it. Worth a shot maybe? Espcially since this provides more water with their food  which is always good.

I am feeding my cat a mix of canned and raw. I am trying to eliminate all dry from her diet. Go to www.catinfo.org  if you're interested on why.

It's not necessarily because of the texture. . .my cats don't like higher-quality brands either, except for EVO 95% chicken and turkey. Which is OK because I can't really afford to give them a higher-quality brand very often :tongue2:. Try a few flavors of Friskies paté, but go easy on the fish flavors---too much fish isn't healthy for kitties.

Thanks!  I will try new flavors out.  I had no idea fish isn't that healthy for kitties.
