I just adopted a 10 week old kitten who is about 2-3 pounds. I've read that you can predict how big they will grow by how long their back legs or or how long their tail is.

Are those true? Are there any other tips on how to predict how big she might get on a normal diet?

Diet doesn't matter (unless very malnourished or being fed steroids! :tongue2:), a cat will grow as big as her genes dictate. I don't know any way to predict how big she'll get, but her growth so far seems to be right on track. . .the rough rule of thumb for kittens is one pound for each month, so at 10 weeks 2 1/2 pounds would be exactly right.

But most female cats are between 8-12 pounds. At least they're not like dogs; you could end up with a 10-pound dog or a 100-pound dog!

I think it just depends on the cat.  Stella was 1.7 pounds at 9 weeks, and she is 5 pounds at 5 months.

That said, Jason was a puny little thing when we got him.  He grew, but still looked small.  Then when he was several months old he went through a growth spurt and got giant
