When I was little I loved all the Hanna-Barbera cartoons like "The Flintstones" (my all-time favorite) and "Josie and the Pussycats." I watched the Brady Bunch after school.

What were your favorite shows as a child?

Geez, I am a senior citizen so many of you won't even know these programs existed so here goes:

Howdy Doody

Popeye (cartoon)

Lassie

That's all I can remember right now. I know there were other cartoons I watched but don't remember them.

I can relate to these. But do you remember "I remember Mama". Took place in San Francisco. Also "The Goldbergs". Took place in my home town of The Bronx. Uh oh -- I guess I'm dating myself!

Well, regular TV:
Have Gun, Will Travel

Peter Gunn

The Rifleman

Ozzie and Harriet
Leave it to Beaver

Invaders

Twilight Zone (this and Invaders when I could manage because they were 'spooky stuff')
Fury
Lassie

Roy Rogers

Cartoons
Bugs Bunny

Popeye

Tom and Jerry

Howdy Doody

Huckleberry Hound
Yogi Bear

Rocky and Bullwinkle which makes little sense to younger generations, one had to live through the cold war to understand it

The Flintstones were a differen thing - it was a family show rather than a regular cartoon and for decades, it was part of the dinner (read noon meal) ritual - eat, watch news then The Flintstones

I always liked Bewitched. As I recall, it was on around 9:00 or so on Thursday nights. We had to be in bed by 8:30,  but my parents would always fall asleep in front of the tv. I found that, if I stood in the bathroom doorway just so, I could see the television just fine and so would watch Bewitched that way.

If anybody gets METV, Bewitched is on there at 8:00 on weeknights, followed by I Dream of Jeannie. Also, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Dick van Dyke, Bob Newhart (I just love Bob Newhart), and the Odd Couple, all on that channel. Most nights, I'll watch that instead of regular programming.

I used to watch the Patty Duke show, Donna Reed, etc, when I was really young. And I was a Monkees fan, too, when I got a little older.

Hehe, you must be about my age! So now I don't have to type it all out. . .:tongue2:. But, I grew up overseas and the Navy base channel didn't have all the new shows, plus they showed a lot of old cartoons, too. So I don't remember Jem and The Holograms, My Pet Monster, or Bump in the Night. And I do remember Jabberjaws, Ricochet Rabbit, Dinky Doggy, Josie and the Pussycats, etc. Oh, and I really liked Monchichis!

After Star Wars came out, my taste in what was "cool" was reshaped, and my favorite shows were "The Six Million Dollar Man", "Battlestar Galactica", and "Buck Rogers" (the Gil Gerard version).

Ironically, one of the bigger mistakes I've made recently was getting the DVD compilations of all of these shows, and realizing that they didn't have the same allure for me anymore.

My son was a big Battlestar Galactica fan, too. He was also a huge Star Wars fan. I can't tell you how many time I took him to the movies when the first SW movie came out.

That's cool. :) My mom and I made it a tradition of sorts to see all of the movies together. Seems crazy that it all spanned almost 30 years.  Seems like just yesterday I plopped down on the floor after that first viewing of SW and started drawing TIE fighters (they were the easiest ship to draw, ya know :).

Actually when I was in Kindergarden I was on Lucy's Toy Shop ( channel 10 Columbus Ohio)  and my younger brother came on the show with me and my class. He was crying so much they took him off.

My favorite show was Captain Kangaroo.

if you haven't already, check out the "new" battlestar galactica series. it is very, very impressively done and is absolutely made for adults.

although i was not a child when it aired (i was a teen) Magnum PI. i bought the complete series on dvd a few years ago and i still loved it - much deeper plots/stories than what i remembered from 30 years ago.

Now that it's done (of course...always late to the party), I'd love to watch the whole series. At the time I was kinda ticked that BG was "b a s t a r dized" (Ha! Beat the censors!) in certain respects (hated the styling of the Cylons, Starbuck being a woman, etc.), but now I regret not watching it. :(

I did really get into Caprica, the prequel to BG a few years ago on sci-fi that only lasted a bit over a season before it was cancelled. That show was pure genius with some great acting performances. Eric Stoltz was awesome.

One of my co-workers has the newer BG series and he's been after me to watch it with him. So far, I've not gotten around to it......should I go ahead, do you think? I was never into the original BG, but he says this is really good.
