Hello everyone.  First let me say I love all 4 footed buggers.  Cats being at the top of the list.  I'm a feral cat advocate and have had a small colony for the last 14 years.  2-4 neutered cats, well maintained.  The neighbor moved here 3 years ago and brought a female in and the farmer's wife brought 4 kittens as well as another who allowed them to escape out the window.  All, of course not fixed. Last year we had a population explosion.  There are at least 25 kitties, many of which I can pet,  including 4 tiny winter kittens that need help.  I saved 2 kittens out of the group this winter  and had to take one to the vet on a cold nite.  She was sitting by the door, this wee little black and white kitten,  who normally runs away peaking at me when I feed them.  She just sat there looking up at me with those big eyes.  I scoped her up of course and wrapped her in a blanket.  It was about 15 degrees out and after holding her until she warmed up and giving her a little warm water she had this look of relief I can't explain.  I had a look to see if she was OK.  Oh god why do these things happen?  It appeared that her whole bowel was out!  As my husband held her and I was in shock I tried to think what to do.  I called the vet, it was 12:30 Am and I held her in a blanket the whole way.  We live a half hour plus away and i was just sick.  The vet said there was nothing he could do.  I cried for her so.

Well the next week I saved another of the winter kittens,  it's eyes where so matted it couldn't see and was sitting in the middle of the road almost frozen not being able to find her way home, but this one I was able to rescue and it has a new home.  There was 2 black and white twins and 2 black twins each a male and a female.  When the first one went the twin was so frightened and alone without his sister.  I could see it.  Now there are only the 2 left and I need to trap them and tame them as one has mattered eyes but the other is in good health.

I need to spay and neuter the rest of the colony and 2 had been shot by a neighbor with a pellet gun, their wounds where life threatening. Be Be a little Bengal male is ready to neuter and Mingo a black Male is recovering from his shot wound.  Mingo may need to go to the vet yet.  Today his wound started looking wrong.

Now here the rest of the story.  I'm disabled,  on a fixed income and my husband has had to care for me for the last 5 years.  I have 20 indoor kitties ready for adoption and have been active in adoptions for the last 10 years.  Yesterday my land lord of 15 years told my husband we can't feed the outdoor pets or they will evict me. She said they will take care of themselves. They don't!  She has no care for them or knowledge of a cat colony.  They will starve or be eaten by coyotes, shot or die of sickness if not cared for.  10 females need to be spayed 15 males need to be neutered and 2 kittens need to be trapped and tamed.  Mingo needs help and Be Be needs a home along with the other spay and neutered kitties.  I am now in liver failure, I'm diabetic with hypothyroidism and breathing problems.  I've been responsible all my life and try as hard as I can to do the next right thing even if others do not.  I'm sad not for myself but for the little one's left behind.  I'm very sick but need no pity.  Just some of you to give a little hand to help these little guys make it to a safe place. Please contact if you can offer any help to them. Laura in western wisconsin

So sorry to hear of such difficulties - as I'm learning more and more feral rescue important but very challenging work.   I would say  based on what you've shared that this situation is just too much for you (and would be for most anyone) especially given your health problems and now the landlord's ultimatum.   I would suggest calling up rescue groups in your area - it doesn't even have to be just your city it can include the wider area also and tell them your situation.    Maybe you'll strike gold and someone will be willing to come and actively help sort things out.   One way I identify small rescue groups is to go on petfinder.com and enter your zipcode and look at what groups are putting up cats for adoption.   Same thing with Craigslist.  As for the landlord, maybe you could buy an "extension" by sharing that you are working to bring in a rescue group and see what they say.

Thank you for your help.  I will be listing the indoor neutered and spay kitties on RescueMe a great site.  As far as the rescues around me they are anti feral.  Still must try everything.  I wil cal all the rescues around again even one will help.  Your idea is great for the Land Lord to buy time.  I will try that as well.   Thank you very much.

You have a big, huge heart and I am so sorry about your dilemma with these cats. So sorry those baby kittens died but am thankful you were there to help them pass on. Such a hard life for these feral born kittens. Just breaks my heart and soul to pieces. Bless you for what you do. I will pray for you and hope that your cats will find new loving homes and I do hope that you can find an organization that will step up to help you. :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
