Why are you worried about rabies? Anything that caused these concerns?

Rabies can lie dormant for a long time after an animal has been exposed. They are not contagious during this time. Once they start shedding the virus in their saliva, they will be dead within 2 weeks.

She should have gotten her rabies vaccination by now. It's usually given around 4 months of age.

Also, where do you live? The way you say "garden" instead of "yard" and "mummy" instead of "mommy" makes me think you're in the UK or other British-English speaking area. The UK is a rabies-free area :).

hi, i am english but re-siding in Sharm el sheikh Egypt. nothing in her behaviour has made me think she has rabies it was being curious, yes i should of had her vaccinated by now but money had been tight. since i rescued her when she was 4weeks she has been a house and not be incontact with other animals. I have booked her to have her spayed this week (wednesday) and the vet was happy to do the surgery before having the vaccinations.... i will also pay for her to go back to the vets to get the vaccines done. the question was literally just out of curiosity and didnt want an expected shock at the vets 'she has rabies' so wondered if any one could tell me the expectancies of her having or not having rabies would i of already known by now by her behaviour or health.

I don't know how common rabies is in Egypt, but after 5 months it's pretty unlikely. Plus I think anything that bit a 4-week-old kitten enough to transmit rabies probably would have killed the little mite. I think you're safe :D.

If she hasn't been outside in 5 months, or in contact with other animals, she should be long past any danger.
