Hi all, so I have this friend (not me) who has a cat that has not been vaccinated in six years, but was fully vaccinated at that time.   Her new vet has initiated the kitten series of vaccines for this cat and wants her to bring in the cat for boosters for rabies, fvrcp, and felv vaccines.   My friend is the kind that has a hard time taking her cats to the vet at all and is resisting the boosters and looking to me to say it's okay to skip them.    I honesty don't know.   I figured somebody here probably knows this issue inside out, what to do?

Well, to vaccinate or not is a very personal decision.  Here is a thread where it is debated:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/245463/do-indoor-cats-really-need-vaccines.

I used to do the annual vaccinations until I joined TCS, then started educating myself on "most things cat", and decided to get kitten boosters only (for kittens!), and after that only get what is required by law in our state.  We discussed our decision in depth with our Vet, and she finally concurred, based on our household "lifestyle", etc.  (our cats NEVER go outside, we don't foster, etc.)

So, bottom line, there really is no right or wrong answer.  Your friend has to go with her gut feelings on the matter

Thanks Mrsgreenjeans, you just reminded me an important piece of info I should have shared - the cat in question is indoors most of the time, but does go outside and sit on a porch about 10% of the time.   There is the possibility of meeting and greeting with unvaccinated cats - she is spayed.    I guess I just found it odd to start an adult cat off with the vaccines for kittens like they had never had any vaccines before?    These days I'm more feral cat focused and those ferals get one vaccine no boosters - because that's all they can get!
